8,8:On the nose, esters, nail polish, solvents, fermented, overripe, pungent, slightly rotten strawberry, apricots, some dried, briny olive, mint, roasted wood notes, caramelized, meaty, spicy, some burnt notes like rubber, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, bbq, bacon and smoky tones are out, roasted nuts, overripe, grilled pineapple, guava and citrus fruits, syrupy, molasses is waxy, sweet with honey. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is intense, medicinal with esters, nail polish, solvents, menthol, pungent with overripe, fermented, slightly rotten tropical fruits like pineapple and banana, strawberry, citrus fruits, molasses is vegetal with briny olive, sweet with honeycomb, minty, waxy, as the wood is roasted, spicy, smoky and meaty, rubber is burnt. 8,7:The finish is long, dry&tannic, medicinal with esters, varnish, burnt rubber, oily with roasted wood notes like nuts, dark chocolate, spicy, fruity with rotten, pungent overripe tropical, yellow and red fruits, sour, molasses is minty, sweet with honey, candied. Grand Arome with the actually typical notes of fruits, especially strawberries, artificial aromas. Compared to other GA it remains behind: alcohol is very badly integrated, even longer standing time doesn’t help much here. Also a slight but for my taste persistent bitterness that I don’t know from other GA. The whole thing is completed by a completely unjustified price for the bottle. Sorry, but “Nope”.

A wonderfully typical Savanna on the nose and palate. Esters, fruits like strawberries, pineapple, tropical fruits, and solvents are particularly prominent. I also detect milk chocolate, mint and a bit of barrel. A wonderfully warm, long, fruity finish. I simply love Savanna.

#6375 21.02.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after a super hard day at the gym. This is one of my favourite Savannas. Great balance, fruity, nice spices and some tobacco. Needs to rest for a while to really open up properly.

Tasting with Mr. Simon Hansen on 16.07.2026 RX 25366 Savanna TWI Nose: French oak, slightly mineral, tropical fruit pineapple, a hint of banana. Palate: Sweet with roasted lemon and pineapple, deep pecan nut nuance. Finish: tobacco, deep nutty. The glass: Deep mahogany. Tasting "In the cave"

Great Savanna tasting with Artur, A broad and rich nose with tropical fruits, cedar wood, acidity, and a slight smokiness. The wood is too pronounced for my taste. In the finish, tannins add to the woodiness and you can feel the council right at the end.

05-12-2025 - Rate 8.8 The 3rd. in a line up of 5 different Savanna rums. On the 3rd bottle we are back at a more classic Savanna smell and taste, if you can say so. Nose of tropical fruit, ester and wood. Palate of ester, pineapple, banana and wood. Long finish dominated by wood and tropical fruits. Finally got these new Savannas in the glass, initially very disappointed that they were only available in overpriced bundles and in my opinion not worth the price. That doesn't mean they're bad, just not outstanding in my eyes.

A rum that combines what I love and hate about Savanna, ultimately leaving a good overall impression. The nose welcomes you with brined olives and a very salty side. The Réunion esters are well present with a significant aromatic power. You can sense very ripe, slightly acidic fruit, like something forgotten in the fridge drawer. This impression is reinforced by notes of rotten yellow lemons. In short, the nose didn't charm me. The palate is much smoother. The esters still bring that briny note, but lighter. The fruitiness is more present and rounded, with perfectly ripe strawberry and juicy pineapple. The woodiness and some spices also add complexity to this very fresh rum. The finish is endless on exotic fruit.

Tasting a 2cl sample. 👃 Strong concentration of esters typical of the Grands Arômes. Sharp smell of nail polish remover and power of fermented fruits. Sour candies, tutti frutti, Tagada strawberries, strawberry-flavored yogurts, juicy guava, passion fruits soaked in powdered sugar 🤯 The fruits evolve towards overripe pineapple, royal apricot jam, combava ice cream. Slight spicy woodiness on pink peppercorns and green pepper. With lots of aeration, some soft notes of green olive, fruit tree flowers, crushed fresh mint leaves. 😋 Magnificent combination of acidic esters, overripe fruits and nail polish removers. Very sweet and fermented aspect on Victoria pineapples left in the sun, Haribo banana-flavored candies, Tagada strawberries, lemony sensation on cardamom. Essence of tropical woods, smoke, black olives, red pepper. ⛳ Long, spicy, acidic, bitter, slight astringency, warm. Overripe tropical fruits, pineapple + strawberry, barrel + esters, long spicy sensation. 🏆 Very good GA that fulfills everything expected from these long fermentation rums. I highlight the amazing integration of the ABV. At no time do you feel the 60%. 💡 To be compared with other heavyweights of the genre, Madras, GES, Forêt, Lave, Thunderstruck, Chai Humide 8 & 10yo, Chronicles, Belgium Flag, TVRC3...

Online tasting organised by Mirco, super interesting tasting! I'm not an expert in Savanna so that was definitely an experience. First one in the tasting, this one is very acidic. At the beginning it starts tame but acidity is a bit too pronounced.

Cheers to Mirco for curating this tasting set! Looking at the bottlings side by side really has the potential to shift some ratings :) Among the GAs, the RumX bottling came out on top for me, with the Chronicals surpassing Thunderstruck (which surprised me tbh). Overall the profile and with that the individual bottlings has/have so much to offer and explore that I would gladly enjoy a bottle of each contender.

Savanna Grand Arome online tasting with Mirco. A basically nice Savanna Grand Arome – but on the palate it slightly reminds me of a Cognac cask and has an unusual acidity. If it weren’t for the acidity, the rating would be a bit higher. Either way, you get all the aromas you expect from a GA, and it’s rather tame, mild, and restrained compared to other GAs.

Nos Intenzivne naplnena mistnost uz pri nalevani. Brutalni bom pari, esterovo ovocna pecicka. Prezraly jahody. Tohle je to, proc savannu milujem. Chut Ohnostroj chuti, cumlam bompar, kterej prechazi z hrusky pres jahodu po flambovanej ananas. Zaver stredne dlouhy, sviravy otevirajici dalsi a dalsi vrstvy ovoce. Nadhera!

Tasting 4 samples of this new Wild edition. I’m a big fan of what Savanna does, their atypical and varied rums. I really appreciated these new rums and won’t take into account the exorbitant price compared to previous versions... Before diving into this Wild edition, I took a look at the Savanna Unshared Belgium Mérou, which I rated 8.4, to have a reference point. This fire tree is typical of the great aromas, always as great. Esters, pineapple, Tagada strawberries, both on the palate and nose. The smell stays in the room for a long time. It needs to be aired as much as possible, because I find the alcohol a bit less integrated than on other great aromas (which doesn’t spoil the tasting but better to point it out). The woodiness is more felt during the finish. Like all great aromas it stays in the mouth for a long, very long time: another gem from Savanna.

The typical nose marked by esters, solvent, fruits. At first, I was more on guava, strawberry stems, but with aeration it keeps opening up and apricot marmalade arrives, alongside notes of pineapple and... lime! On the palate, the esters usually overwhelm the palate, you have to take a deep breath and take the time to get used to it to decipher the sequence. Clear white pepper at the front of the tongue, powerful return on exotic fruits, guava, banana, all sparkling on the tongue, an intoxicating and enjoyable impression, typical of these GAs. Warm, intense, slightly spicy finish, following the notes of exotic fruits, a little return of varnish, and a surprising note of milk chocolate (result of a mix between tannins & the infinite indulgence of fruits? good question). Familiar comforting & intoxicating impression, between an avalanche of esters, fruits, and pleasure.

The nose alone makes it clear that we have a Grand Arome in our glass. The whole fruit basket on the palate. Liquid gummy bears together with a little wood stain, then Tictac Wintergreen on the finish. Powerful, for me it is very similar to the Rum Nation Savanna RX7316. Great bottling and definitely the highlight of these new single casks.

Savanna Cross Tasting - November 2025: For me, the Arbre Feu from the new Wild Island Edition is the best bottling in the series. A good grand aroma, with the typical notes of strawberry and pleasant acidity.

Mirco's brilliant Savanna online blind tasting. Rating from this tasting. The color, like all samples, is a light brown amber. The nose impression is spicy and round. With nice fruitiness behind it. I get strawberry combined with solvent. Also a bit of beeswax. On the palate, great. Rich spicy wood, fruity, solvent. Everything is there. The finish could be a bit longer for my taste and is on the woody/spicy side.

Surprisingly little alcohol burn on the nose despite 60.9%. Powerful funk with a good punch, but without unpleasant alcohol sharpness. With some air, exotic, overripe fruits become more and more present. On the palate, incredibly well-integrated alcohol: I first get the full flavor, then a long warm intensity instead of sharp heat. The finish is long, warm, and intense: the fruits, like pineapple and banana, remain present but are increasingly accompanied by wood and a bit of leather. A very well-rounded thing.

A Savanna Grande Arome proprio buono, too bad about the price which has now gone through the roof. On the nose esters, fruit and solvents: they blend perfectly. Soft and round taste, we're talking about 60.9%, still fruit and esters. Long and moving finish: really good.

🇷🇪 Nová Wild Island edice 🏞️🌅🌋🌌 🥃 Black Volcano Cave 🌋 Agricole, 2014, 7 let, ex-cognac, 61% Velmi svěží a živý, trochu travnatý a velmi ovocný po žlutém kontinentálním ovoci, po provzdušnění se více projevuje dřevitost se zemitým kořením a bylinkami. V chuti je agricole DNA znatelnější více. Parádní kousek a pro mě asi největší překvapení série. 🥃 Marine Cave 🏞️ Traditionnel, 2009, 15 let, ex-cognac, 62,6% Potřebuje delší čas ve sklenici, než se pořádně otevře. Pak nabídne bohaté aroma ořechů, lehké praženosti, karamelu, hnědého cukru, koření a dotek chemie. V chuti se přidávají ovocnější tóny. 🥃 Milky Way 🌌 Traditionnel, 2008, 15 let, ex-sherry, 60,1% Čokoládově nasládlý se dřevem a sušenými švestkami a celkově poměrně tmavý s příjemnou vínovou linkou. Krásně plný a hutný jak ve vůni tak v chuti. Závěr je tu ale nečekaně chemicko-gumový (zvýrazněný ještě po zapití vodou). To mi ale nevadí. 🥃 Tree in flames 🌅 Grand Arome, 2010, 13 let, ex-cognac, 60,9% Záměrně jsem si nechal na konec, protože prostě vrchol. Skvělý nos, jak jsme u Grand Arome Savanny zvyklí. Mix sladkého, zralého tropického ovoce (zvláště banánu) a umělé jahody umocněný akurátní dávkou esterů a chemie a kapka toho dřeva a sladkokyselosti. V chuti ta samá nálož ovocných tónů s estery. Celkově to působí jako gumídci. ______ Opět nádherná přírodní grafika, kterou prostě můžu, a opět špičkové rumy, které prostě můžu. A za mě se určitě staví na stejnou úroveň jako předchozí edice.

Tasted in Rum bar in Japan, very lucky the owner recommended for me. True deep complex with layers of sweet orange, orange peels, dissolved oak tannins, cigar box, nuts oil, all rounded with long long finish. Main tone that I recall is orange peel, thick and chewy, what a magic of French style Rhum, very thick old style Cognac like, what a gold.

Finally a beacon of hope on this newer wild island flight. This grand arome really fires up the typical notes of ester and tropical fruits and ends on a hint of strawberry bubblegum. This is savanna when it's great but apparently you have to look for it...
