Most tasters land in the "really good, but not the peak" camp — a warm, rounded Foursquare where the port influence brings dark fruit (prunes, cherries) over the usual coconut, caramel and vanilla. #6268 23.01.2026 Relaxing after a hard week at work while listening to Techno Discovery on Spotify. Nose Light wood, lightly roasted, cherry, light tobacco, faint banana, nuts, faint chocolate, light coconut. Palate Oily, round, balanced, wood, lightly roasted, light caramel, apricot, light chocolate, nuts, berries, light coconut. Finish Medium to long, oily, wood, light coconut, berries, light caramel. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, caramel, light cherry, light marzipan.

8,7:On the nose, roasted wood notes like chocolate, caramel, pastry, nuts, leather, spicy with baking spices, vanilla, dried fruits, coconut, some tobacco, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, banana, cherry, berries and citrus fruits arise, fermented, some candied, the molasses is flowery, burnt sugar and glue. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is oily and balanced, slightly sweet with roasted wood notes like caramel, pastry, burnt sugar, cola, chocolate, biscuits, vanilla, leather, port barrel finish is obvious, fruits like coconut, orange, dried apricots, dates, raisins, berries, red fruits, some candied, medicinal with hints of menthol, glue, as the molasses is earthy with tobacco, fresh with tea. 8,7:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with toasted oak notes, spicy, pairing dried, yellow and red, citrus fruits, coconut and some medicinal notes. Tasted this rum at my recent visit to the Foursquare distillery after having been guided around by Mr. Richard Seale. They had it for sale at shop/tasting bar so I bought me a bottle as well. The nose is fruity, woody, nutty and roasted with scents of coconut, cherries, banana, chocolate and tobacco. At the palate it’s round, balanced, fruity, spicy, woody, roasted, nutty, a little oily and sweet with flavors of apricot, coconut, cherries, vanilla, caramel, marzipan and chocolate. The finish is rather long.

Blind tasted together with Absolutio, Equidem, and Detente. Very similar to the top scorer Absolutio with plenty of wood and red fruit on the nose. The other two fall a bit behind in this tasting. Also very intense on the palate with woody, spicy, and roasted notes. Very good!

Another very good Foursquare. This time a version with dark fruits, wood, and a nice Port wine influence. The alcohol is well integrated, and the finish reveals even more clearly than the palate which cask this rum was aged in.

I’m having a bit of trouble unpacking this rum visiting it for the first time with a newly opened bottle. The expected caramel, vanilla, and red fruit notes that you would expect are there, but I’ll need to revisit it to go a level deeper. It lives up to the ECS expectation and is a very good rum.

A very good Foursquare. Wow, this one is delicious. All notes are wonderfully balanced and complex. Delicious dark fruit,caramel, spicy, and woody notes. The port notes come through beautifully, but are not at all overpowering. The alcohol is very well integrated. A real winner from the FS.

A nice, rounded Foursquare with well-recognizable coconut as usual. The port wine finish is, in my opinion, very well integrated and complements the usual Foursquare profile very well without overpowering it.

Compared to the other FSQ of the series quite alcoholic. The typical markers are present from nose to finish. In this bottling more spices and stronger alcohol. Slight port wine influence noticeable.

Un très bon Foursquare ! Au nez, on retrouve la trame signature : De la coco séchée, mais drapé dans le Porto qui lui apporte un fruité très gourmand sur les fruits rouges (pruneaux, cerises) et beaucoup de complexité. Les parfums sont assez puissants à l'ouverture de la bouteille. On perçoit des notes de résine de pin avec de la vanille et du caramel. Les épices et le boisé avec ses 16 ans de fût sont en trame de fond. En bouche, encore beaucoup de gourmandise. L'attaque est vive et chaleureuse, avec encore cette sucrosité du Porto bien présente. Il est pimenté en fin de bouche. La griotte nappe le palais, avec un peu de caramel. La coco est plus discrète que sur d'autres ECS. Le tout reste très fruité/vanillé. La finale est longue et réconfortante, sur ce fruit noir mêlés à des épices pimentées qui se font plus discrète au profit du chêne et du chocolat noir.

10 years Bourbon / 6 years Port cask. I don't find the 'fat' red port wine notes (Ruby, Vintages, LBV) here, rather nutty notes and dried fig, slight acidity (red currants, cherry wood), which can be explained because it aged in a Tawny cask, where the long oxidation creates a special, less fruity profile. On the palate nutty, chocolaty, caramel. Decent bottling!

Romhatten virtual Foursquare tasting date 11.09.2026 RX25387 FS Mandamus 16 years. 1th. tasting 88 points. 2th. tasting 87 points. Nose: Chocolate and caramel. Vanilla some nutty notes and dried fruits, coconut, light toasted notes. Mouth: Balanced with spiced sweetness, vanilla and chocolate, caramel and dried fruits mostly apricot and dats. Burnt sugar and tea. Residual taste: Burnt orange peels, coconut and balanced fruitiness, light toasted wood. Pleasant spiced with hints of tobacco. The glass: Bitter oak. Tasting “In the cave”

Beautiful Foursquare, high quality as usual. The port finish is well integrated, as usual it gets even better with a little water and opens up. Good bottling, can be bought without hesitation in my opinion, but not a revelation either. Simply "still" a successful Foursquare, not at the level of the Absolutio. Thanks to Jens for the sample and the opportunity!

A very well-made rum. The taste is quite sweet, almost too sweet for me; unfortunately, wood, pepper, and spices get somewhat lost. With water, it gets much better, opens up more and the aromas come together better.

As always, this Foursquare resembles all the other Foursquare rums Even though there are always nuances that allow for small differences You can really feel the distillery's signature. Still very good, even if far from the best.

A new Foursquare tested with this Mandamus. We find a fairly round and soft nose. Coconut, caramel, vanilla and wood. It makes you want to try it. On the palate, no surprise but it's a nice Foursquare, accessible and reassuring. Nicely spicy. Finish without major evolution. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a Foursquare this much.

Rum Club Schweiz Tasting Set. Danke Denis fürs organisieren. Foursquare mit eher würziger und trockener Ausrichtung. In der Nase Vanille, Holz, etwas Kokos und dunkle Gewürze. Am Gaumen trocken und kräftig mit Eiche, Karamell und einer leichten herben Note. Die 16 Jahre merkt man ihm an, ohne dass das Fass alles überdeckt. Rund, komplex und ausgewogen.

Bin positiv überrascht, sehr rund, im Bagang würzig und mit erkennbarem Fasseinfluss, der Einfluss des Port-Fasses ist in Form von einem harmonischem Schmelz vorhanden, bleibt aber dezent und harmonisch. Richtig gutes ECS-Release.

Tasted at Spiritus Sanctus ‘26 In the glass you get wafts of coconut, red berrymix and sweet espresso. It’s heavily spiced with notes of pepper and vanillapod, but keeps you on your toes with hints of freshly crushed mint and something reminiscent of plastic. Drinking you get even more coconut, husks, flesh, caramelised on the bbq, all at the same time. The experience is spiced and more than a little tannic, but nicely kept in balance with notes of freshly whipped cream, currants, dark chocolate and a crisp whiff of mint. The experience ends in medium length with more coconut, milky cappucino with crème fraiche, vanilla and an ever so slight hint of banana. *Tried this immediately after the Swell Belize for PS and the difference in complexity is astounding to me. That said, I’m no big Travellers fan.

Nez :assez complexe, bois / caramel / vanille, pâtissier, café Bouche : bois / caramel / vanille d'abord ; puis acide, chocolat / cola. Finale : longue. Toujours pâtissière. Un peu astringente mais pas désagréable. Mon 3 ou 4e ECS et mon préféré jusque là. C'est gourmand, mais il y a umdu kick. Il y a du café. La finale est longue. J'aime qu'entre l'odeur, puis la bouche et la finale il y a 3 expériences différentes mais dans la continuité. Un rhum émotion alors que je n'en attendais "rien", que ce n'est pas ma came d'habitude. Je suis content. :-) Je mets 8.3 (je n'ai rien noté de mieux au moment de cette dégustation)

Fruchtig, Banane aber kein Funk. Vor allem in der Nase ist der "Wein" Einfluss erkennbar. Trockene Früchte mit Tannin. Süß! Geschmacklich nicht so gut, wie die Nase es versprochen hatte.

You can feel the usual Foursquare framework (coconut, vanilla, milk chocolate, ...) but the port brings a sulfurous touch and fruity freshness with notably the prune.

Solid Foursquare. A country mile behind Absolutio if looking for a port finish Foursquare but solid nethertheless. A nutty cherry forward nose, coconut and some nuance, inviting. The mouth is a little simple to start, but then layers arrive with red fruits, port, caramel. Finish surprisingly spicy and persistent, losing a few points for me here. Overall enjoy it but seems a little brash and unrefined. Middle of the pack ECS

That said, judged purely on quality, balance, and intent, Foursquare Mandamus stands comfortably among the stronger modern releases. It’s a rum that knows exactly what it’s trying to achieve — and achieves it without compromise.
