Famille Ricci Unique Blend No. 8 2025
Tropical fruit and red berries pile up in the glass like a bowl of jam — this Trinidad-Hampden blend is, as one taster put it, fruit, fruit and more fruit. Hampden esters, glue and marmalade sit up front; the oak stays in the back and honey rounds off the palate. At 63% it stays surprisingly drinkable, though a few found it a touch hot.
The community says- Huge fruit jam
- Clean ester funk
- But: Warm on the palate

#6959 24.06.2026 Had a hard 50 km test on the bike today and it went really well. Relaxing with some samples while watching "Moonshiners". Thank you for the samples Petter. Well priced and balanced rum in my mind. Medium intense rum with nice fruits, spice, nutts, mint, roasted wood and some tobacco.

8,5:On the nose, esters, nail polish, hints of glue, some rubber, tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, roasted wood notes like caramel, marzipan, chocolate, spicy, briny olive, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration red and citrus fruits grow stronger, marmalade like, molasses is grassy, pastry, roasted nuts join, slight smokiness. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, fruity with tropical, red and citrus fruits, joined by dried and peaches, the wood is roasted with nuts, caramel, pastry, fruitcake, spicy with baking spices and molasses is herbaceous, vegetal with briny olive, slightly sweet with honey hints, fermentation brings dairy hints. 8,3:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, warm, slightly metallic, molasses is vegetal with caraway, black tea, fruity with dried, tropical fruits and wood roasted with caramel, chocolate, nuts, leather, spicy..

Last blend of the Unique Blend series is blend of Trinidad TML 2009 mark and Hampden Diamond H or C Diamond H 2014. On the nose: Hampden note all over. Esters, glue, nail polish, banana. Noticable marmelade note. Light woody notes and little bit of maybe marzipan notes. Taste:Esters, tropical fruits and pastry notes that arrive just on time to the palate. I get little bit of honey after that. Light woody notes. Light olive notes in the end. Balanced Finish:Warm. Woody, roasted, light esters. Nutty notes. Light cocoa notes. Dried fruits. Dry. Much more interesting blend than the nosing suggested. I am unfamiliar with the TML mark, but think it provided the little bit of the much needed variety on the taste and it came more forward on the finish.

Cuvée discovered at Spirits in the Sky where I worked for the Ricci Family, not an objective opinion :) TDL 2009 and Hampden H 2014, for a big jam of exotic and red fruits, obviously. As it happens, the two go together easily, and there are no surprises on the blend. Fruit, fruit, fruit. Finally, slightly camprenean, where the wood supports the fruit well. Easy-sipping, ultra-drinkable, perhaps a little straight for me.

Unique Blend 2025 n°8 – 63 % Assemblage : Hampden H 2014 + TDL 2009 (mark TML, profil light) Boum !

SITS 2025 A bit light but fun you can recognize both TDL and Hampden.
