If you like your Jamaican funk wrapped in orange peel, this Ten Cane / Hampden DOK blend is aimed right at you. Esters, solvent and glue on the nose, then bitter orange, tropical fruit and roasted wood on a slightly thick palate. The DOK brings ripe fruit, the Ten Cane a spicy freshness on the finish. #6957 24.06.2026 Had a hard 50 km test on the bike today and it went really well. Relaxing with some samples while watching "Moonshiners". Thank you for the samples Petter. Another good rum with a nice price tag. Medium intense with fruits, funk, polish, spice, roasted wood and some chocolate.

8,8:On the nose, esters, solvents, some glue, citrus, tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, red wine notes like red fruits, thick, dried, some orange peel, roasted wood notes like chocolate, burnt sugar, spicy bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is dark with licorice, candied, black tea, creamy caramel is out, spices like anise, allspice, some rubber and hints of smoke. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with menthol, rubber, light esters, slightly metallic, thick with dark molasses, candied and licorice, black tea, vegetal, roasted wood notes like dark chocolate, caramel, slightly burnt, salty and spicy, fruity with tropical, citrus and red fruits. 8,8:The finish is long, dry and tannic, dark with black tea, fruity with tropical fruits like mango, dried sour cherry or cherry, grapes, citrus fruits, as we also notice red wine impact.Oak brings chocolate, spices, pastry, biscuits, cookie dough, some leather. This rum is a blend of Trinidad Ten Cane 2006 and Jamaica DOK 2009. On the nose: Esters, citrus notes like orange peel, tropical fruits and sherry/red wine notes similar that you get from Sherry cask rums. Little bit of spices in the background. Taste: Nice palate of tropical fruit notes and orange peel notes with spicy notes in the background. Woody notes. Mouthfeel has a little bit of thickness to it. At the end you get some medicinal notes and little bit of menthol notes. Finish: Dry, orange peel notes, dried fruits, hints of black tea notes. Spices and woody notes. Pretty good blend that gives interesting notes, but doesnt really blow your mind. It would be interesting to know what type of cask did they use on this blend, because im sure i got clear sherry cask notes.

Wochenendtripp mit meinem Bruder in unsere alte Heimat Oelde in Gedenken an unseren Vater. In der Nase ist er eher fruchtig, vor allem Zitrusfrüchte, aber auch Ester ist erkennbar. Am Gaumen dann eher röstig, dunkle Schokoladebund Leder sind erkennbar.

Now the last 4 Unique Blends from skyfly's Ricci Split in the glass. No. 5, No. 6, No. 7 and No. 8. You can say none are bad, but none really trigger FOMO for me. Some are a bit too alcoholic.

Famille Ricci Unique Blend X-Tasting #5: awesome blend with lots of orange peel. Guaranteed a hit in a Rum Old Fashioned. Besides that tropical fruits, some esters and solvents, as well as wood and spices.

Cuvée discovered during Spirits in the Sky where I worked for Famille Ricci, not an objective opinion :) Nose surprisingly focused on cane, candied fruits, and orange. This Ten Cane and Hampden DOK blend creates new aromas. On the palate, it's a well-cooked, caramelized juice, still highlighting fruits with orange but also the usual Jamaican pineapple-mango. The Ten Cane is quite shy... Until the finish where it brings freshness and quite a bit of spice. A good vintage, and a quite unique combination of aromas.

Unique Blend 2025 No. 5 – 62% Blend: Ten Cane 2006 + Hampden DOK 2009 The spicy freshness of Ten Cane opens the tasting. In the mid-palate, the DOK brings explosive ripe fruits. Very nice balance, although, as often with Ten Cane, it's excellent but without the 'wow' effect for me.
