Here's the twist: this Long Pond barely tastes like one. The rare low-ester CRV mark, distilled on a column still in 2004, has so little funk that tasters kept guessing Foursquare or Appleton blind. Expect dried apricot, coconut, caramel, milk chocolate and toasted bourbon oak, with tropical fruit that grows the longer it sits. Sweet but drying, and remarkably composed for 63.3%.

Unusual LP (in a positive sense!), little ester, lots of pleasantly sweet wood, drinkable! As an LP skeptic, I was absolutely convinced by the rum. But since I'm also known as a "farmer's palate", you don't have to take my word for it, but form your own tasting opinion. 😉

Very pleasant start with roasted wood notes, hardly any esters and dried fruit. It glides elegantly down the palate, with dark chocolate, wood and roasted nuts. There is much to discover in the finish over time, with slight bourbon notes. Little caramel and fruit. Slight bitter notes and minimal acidity. Unique and very successful.

On aeration, raisins, berries and yellow fruits show up, some of them candied, vanilla and slight smokiness. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is fruity with tropical(coconut), yellow fruits, dried apricots, raisins and later citrus fruits, bourbon barrel impact is noticable, the wood is roasted with chocolate, pastry, caramel, spicy with vanilla and allspice, slightly resinous(bitter), as the molasses is minty, fresh with tea, sweet with honey, flowery. 8,6:The finish is long, dry&tannic, balanced with thick, sweet, candied molasses, fresh with tea, mint, earthy, pairing coconut, dried and yellow fruits, roasted oak notes like chocolate, caramel, spicy. Nase: das ist doch kein Long Pond sondern ein Belize oder Foursquare ist mein erster Gedanke, mit der Zeit kommt mehr Frucht durch Gaumen: wieder eher Belize als Long Pond, Würze und Röstnoten Nachklang: mittellang, rostig, wieder viel Bourbon, Muss ich erneut verkosten, weil sich eine Erkältung anbahnt und meine Wahrnehmung beeinträchtigt. Mein erster Gesamteindruck ist jedenfalls verhalten positiv.

Tasting on 19.07.2026 Rum club Depot tasting 6.0 Organized by Mr. Kevin Sørensen. RX 25437 Long Pond Nose: Bourbon cask, caramel and nuts, lightly smoky vanilla. Lightly sweet yellow fruits. Palate: Pleasant fullness and richness, dried yellow fruits. Caramel, lightly pleasant bitter tea, a bit of a nice tingling mouthfeel. Tropical and yellow fruits contribute with rich fruity sweetness and coconut notes. The finish is generous spicy chocolate, caramelized yellow fruit, honey and sweet spiced cask followed by cinnamon and dried apricot. Glass: Caramel and oak cask. Tasting “In the bed”

I was very curious about this LP. A very rare mark with only very little esters up to a maximum of 20 g/hlpa. Is it even still distilled today? Also almost 22 years old... sounds very good. Nose: oh yes, complex and deep. Fruity, caramel, woody and spicy. First I have sweet cream toffee with dried apricot. Behind that dry, old wood. But there is also a slight alcoholic sharpness that I find a bit too much. Matching that, it is also a bit peppery. This is again caught by ripe, sweet-sour kiwi, passion fruit and orange. I like it very much overall. 8.8 Palate: drastically different from the nose. At first salty and sharp with a distinct sharpness, turning into something roasted-bacon-like. Almost seems a bit metallic. Matching that initially lime peel, which develops over bitter orange to kumquat with a certain sweetness. The bacon note is accompanied by cocoa. The rum definitely needs time. It doesn't want to please everyone immediately, but it arouses interest. 8.4

Blind it would probably have been an FSQ; on LP I would never have guessed, but this (at least for me) new brand convinces me. Lots of dried fruits, coconut and caramel. The cask influence is pleasant with wood, nut and chocolate.

Even though I quite like drinking the ester bombs from Jamaica, I find the almost ester-free variants from the respective distilleries very exciting. This rare CRV mark from Long Pond immediately makes me think of a Foursquare right after pouring, with the bourbon barrel-influenced scent of fine toasted oak with a bit of glue, caramel, vanilla, and coconut. With a bit of patience, more tropical fruits and spices come through, and the profile shifts towards the 1994 New Yarmouth. This smooth rum really becomes more complex the longer it stays in the glass. Great!

#6316 06/08.02.2026 My first visit to The Village in Nuremberg and it was a very pleasant surprise. I will definitely attend again as there is more than enough rum going around. This one was my favourit release from Rumclub. A very good Jamaica mark with lots of fruits and light nutts, caramel and chocolatel. ABV is near perfectly integrated.

Very tasty, round and rather elegant Long Pond with not too much ester power. Apricot, banana, milk chocolate, a bit of mint and caramel... Nice thick viscosity. You can really drink it surprisingly well at just under 64%! But it doesn't come close to the previously legendary Plantation 1993 CRV!✌🏼😄

A Long Pond where the ester count is clearly manageable. Unusual and rare, as this is no longer produced. I was accordingly curious here. From the start there is a nice balance between wood and fruit. Lots of wood but never unpleasant. Sips nicely. At the nose clearly reminiscent of Appleton, tropical fruits slowly take over, on the palate fruit and wood fight. Nice overall balance. And yes, this feels quite old school 😃

This rum did sit in the glass for about 45-60 minutes and it did open nicely. On the nose: Dried apricot as a main note. Vanilla. Barrel notes. Coconut. Light caramel notes. The high abv is integrated perfectly. Taste:Coconut, caramel, lightly roasted. Light dark chocolate notes. Dried apricots in the background. Pretty sweet, but not artificially sweet. Based on the nose and taste i would have guessed somekind of Foursquare/Antigua blend leaning slightly on Antigua. Meaning that this rum was going places and i liked it alot. From what i have learned after tasting ~5-10 different Rumclub releases is that they dont seem choose the casks with typical notes and this was not a exception to that rule.

I really like this bottling from Rumclub. Not much ester/varnish/glue notes, but fruits as far as the nose and palate can reach. Tropical fruits like pineapple, banana, mango, but also a bit of dark chocolate make this guy "very delicious".

Had low expectations for a low ester Long Pond, but after some resting time the RumClub bottling pleasantly surprised. Reminds me a bit of the good Belize bottlings, but with a more pronounced fruity note.

Tasting at "Basecamp" on 17.07.2026 Samples from Rum Depot. 👌 Nose on an adventure👃: I sense a lovely cask influence, lots of raisins, general fruit notes, vanilla, and nuts. Tongue on an adventure 🥃: I taste a soft and oily rum with lots of power! It has a sweetness that reminds me of mango, there’s dried apricot, and coconut. The finish of the story💫: Dry but sweet. Small tannin notes and after a while the mint comes in full force!

Needs some time and air for the nose to develop. Very relaxed for a Jamaican, probably due to the low-ester profile. Very balanced between dried fruits, raisin and a soft wood note. Nothing dominant, really nicely rounded without being boring. Nice depth and complexity.

Quite restrained nose, both fresh right after pouring and after a good hour of airing in a covered glass, the impression remains rather subtle. Caramel, yellow fruits, pepper, tropical and citrus fruit notes, clove, roasted aromas. Bitter, almost astringent wood notes give way to powerful alcohol. I miss that certain something, kind of the flavor awakening moment – the distillate stays within the mentioned range and delivers at a very good level, but without a unique character.

Aroma: well, this is the complete opposite of the highly esterified Hempdens, blind I would say this is Foursquare or Appleton, because there are lots of tropical fruits, sweet aroma, light minty freshness, some dusty books like in a childhood library, light woodiness, sweet mango, raspberry and berry notes, caramel and milk chocolate, all very refined, beautifully composed and very neat. Taste: very powerful, dense and most importantly insanely tasty, a sea of tropical fruits, chocolate-caramel notes with light berry notes, there is sweetness but it is overlaid by dry woodiness, alcohol is not felt at all. Finish: very long tropical slightly bitter herbal woody, nutty slightly astringent notes with light tobacco notes. A lot of tropical fruits in the aroma, one of the most fruity and tasty rums from Jamaica. Powerful chocolate-berry woody taste, alcohol perfectly integrated and 63.3° not felt at all. Very very long tropical nutty astringent finish. Very similar to Appleton from the Hearts Collection series.

Even though I like Ester and High Ester Rum, this Long Pond hits my taste extraordinarily well. The long tropical aging and dark sweet chocolate aroma reminds me of Appleton 30. Really nicely complex, with ideally integrated alcohol. A really brilliant rum that absolutely surprised me and proves how much Jamaica can do even without Ester.

For several years now, I've been hooked on tropical-aged column stills, especially when they bring a bit more body than the usual Spaniard. When Rumclub released this bottle, I knew I had to have one, and now it's empty. The nose is very nicely balanced, sweet butterscotch with yellow fruit of banana and apricot, a bit of coconut, and a hint of roasted almonds. The rum is super dry, but that would be a dessert pour to my taste. Despite 63% ABV, it feels relatively gentle and warm in the mouth—sunny warm, not fireplace warm, bright like lightly toasted bread and mildly roasted almonds. Plus an enormous creaminess. Butterscotch remains the defining impression with some banana. Really very tasty. The finish stays sunny with soft tannins, a dry trace of oak lingers long on the tongue without excessive bitterness, accompanied by butterscotch and almonds. A really beautiful rum. A bit too expensive at the MSRP, but my finger twitches just thinking about restocking 🤤
