Glue and overripe tropical fruit lead the nose, but this Clarendon doesn't hit you over the head the way some Jamaicans do. Underneath sit yellow fruit, a little maracuja, toasted oak and a touch of milk chocolate on the finish. At 57% the alcohol reads well integrated — several tasters call it funky but balanced, "loin des jamaicains qui tabassent." Fine and even for a 14-year pot-still ester rum.

#6805 17.05.2026 Relaxing after a little recovery walk after yesterdays gruelling hiking trail. Listening to some nice tracks on Spotify. A nice and intense rum with a nice price tag in mymind. Fruity with esters, pastries, earthy, wood, and some chocolate.

And to finish, a delicious Clarendon. Tropical fruits, partly overripe, are clearly recognizable here, but it’s also very funky thanks to esters and glue. You can also detect a bit of wood here.

Small tasting of Precious Liquors from RCS. A nicely fruity nose but less full and sharper (alcoholic) than its brother RX23453. The attack on the palate is straightforward and immediately aromatic. The alcohol is better integrated but the flavor profile is clearly weaker. The finish is slightly metallic but here too all the aromas linger together for a long time. In short, a rum with fewer small flaws than its brother, but also noticeably less interesting.

On the nose it's delicate, between exotic fruits, a nice glue note, and sliced almonds. On the palate, more tangy, sparkling, a bit more exuberant with yellow fruits and a hint of passion fruit, the spices start to tease the palate. The finish is quite indulgent, between fruits, glue, toasted oak, light spices, and a touch of milk chocolate. Fine and balanced, far from the Jamaican rums that hit hard!

Nose: Very gentle, with bright/white fruits and clear apricot. A light tropical fruit note lingers, along with a hint of fruit tart and minimal nail polish in the background. On the palate very balanced, with overripe banana, light sweetness, and subtle wood in the background. The alcohol is well integrated, everything feels rounded, but for my personal taste a bit too unspectacular – I miss a stronger, more polarizing funk here. Finish: Medium, warm finish, clean and pleasant, without a dominant single note. Conclusion: a very successful easy sipper, drinkable anytime, but not the loudest or most characterful Clarendon in my shelf.
