A few tasters found the apricot cask "very present" here — enough that the classic Barbados backbone of oak, vanilla, coconut and crisp allspice fades behind it. You still get dried apricot, brown sugar and tropical fruit, but the finish leans sweet and liqueur-like. Also ich finde den jetzt gar nicht mal so schlecht, klar, das typische Barbados Profil geht hier etwas verloren und die Aprikose nimmt hier leicht überhand. Ganz egal, Kokosnuss, Vanille und Früchte sind trotzdem noch erkennbar.

7,4:On the nose, sweet, caramelized toasted wood notes like pop corn, brown sugar, leather, coconut, dried apricots, citrus and tropical fruits, spicy with allspice, bump into our nosetrils. The barrel impact is strong, on aeration, the rum becomes slightly metallic, sulphurous, cocoa and vanilla arise, raisins. 7,2:On the palate, the attack is sweet, slightly diluted with apricots liqueur finish, toasted wood notes like chocolate, nuts, caramel, spicy with allspice, the brown sugar is caramelized, the molasses flowery, sweet with honey, as the fruits are dried with raisins and apricots, tropical with coconut and pineapple, citrus, some candied. 7,1:The finish is medium long, sweet, dry with notes from the palate lingering on. In der Verkostung drei Planterays aus dieser Reihe probiert. Neben diesem Barbados zwei Fiji-Rums einmal Peated Whisky finish und einmal mit Pauillac finish. Von den dreien gefällt mir dieser am besten, auch wenn die sonstigen Bewertungen eher negativ sind. Der Rum ist stark dominiert vom Aprikosen-Liqueur-Fass Einfluss - letztendlich wie die anderen Abfüllungen auch, die nehr nach dem Finish schmecken als nach der Herkunftsregion. In der Nase und am Gaumen gibt es deutliche Aprikosen/getrocknete Aprikosen Aromen begleitet von einer spürbaren aber nicht unangenehmen Süsse. Barbados ist nicht wirklich im Vordergrund, aber als völlig entspannter daily-Sipper geht das.

Das Aprikosen-Fass zeigt sich sehr präsent, das klassische Barbados-Profil mit deutlichem Eichenholz, Vanille, Kokos und knackigem Piment verliert das aromatische Kräftemessen mit dem Likör weitestgehend - entsprechend präsentiert sich das Profil weitgehend von Süsse dominiert ohne Ecken und Kanten.

So this Planteray collection wasn’t that good at all. I’ve now tried all the samples, but honestly none of them are ones I personally need or would recommend. Despite dilution, they all feel watered down and still mostly alcoholic with an artificial sweetness.
