Planteray Barbados (Marsala cask) 2017
People who like a British-style Barbados rum with a sweet-wine twist will get the most out of this one. Think caramel, coconut and vanilla over toasted oak, with the Marsala finish adding dried apricot and raisin. Pleasant and a touch sweet, though several tasters found the column-still profile a little flat and the alcohol not fully tucked in.
- Caramel and coconut
- Marsala dried fruit
- Long pleasant finish

Sweet, oaky Barbados with a Marsala edge Most find it pleasant and nicely sweet with coconut and oak, helped by the Marsala finish. The recurring catch: a slightly flat, column-still feel and alcohol that could integrate better.
