7,9:On the nose, toasted oak notes like chocolate, caramel, tonka bean, smoky, meaty, spicy with nutmeg, slightly metallic, medicinal with iodine hints, fruity with banana, molasses is herbaceous, floral, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, citrus fruits arise, molasses is thick, candied, sweet with honey, various roasted notes join like burnt sugar, cocoa, biscuits, pastry, macaroons, vanilla and leather. 8:On the palate, the attack is sweet with toasted oak notes like brown sugar, caramel, pastry, roasted nuts, leather, spicy with nutmeg, vanilla, allspice, smoky, fruity with bergamot, banana, slightly metallic, molasses is sweet with honey. 7,8:The finish is medium long, dry, soft, with notes from palate lingering on..

Ein handwerklich einwandfreier Rum, gebrannt aus Thailand-Melasse und frei von Zucker, Farbstoff oder anderen Zusätzen. Vom Profil her relativ unfruchtig, dafür mehr auf melassige Aromen ausgerichtet, wobei sich auch die 6 Jahre in frischen Fässern aus amerikanischer Weißeiche durch angenehme Eichentöne mit ordentlich Gewürzen, etwas Leder und einer hintergründigen Holzrauchbegleitung bemerkbar machen. Ich freue mich auf jeden Fall, die weitere Entwicklung dieser Brennerei zu beobachten und bin gespannt, was da in Zukunft noch so an Abfüllungen kommen wird. Potenzial ist definitiv vorhanden, aber beim nächsten Mal sollte dann unbedingt die Alkoholstärke angehoben werden. Die Verdünnung limitiert diesen Rum doch in seinen Möglichkeit.

Ich probiere diesen Rum in Thailand - Herkunftsland der Melasse, aus der er gebrannt wurde. Interessanterweise war ich vor wenigen Tagen noch bei der Rhumerie De Koh Samui und habe Melasse aus dem Issan und Samui probiert. Ja, der Grundcharakter findet sich durchaus wieder. Florale, mineralische Noten die in die Richtung von Agricole gehen, aber mehr auf einer Clairin-Seite, weniger bitter. Dafür wummst das Fass rein. Frische, grob-porige amerikanische Weißeiche. Hätte evtl früher raus gekonnt - aber dann wäre vermutlich noch weniger Charakter vorhanden gewesen. Solide. Ist alles drin, was man braucht. Aber außer einigen Grundzügen, flachem Gesamteindruck und wenig Erinnerungswert bleibt nix. Schade, hätte ich mehr von erwartet und erhofft

Also der wird definitiv nicht mein Liebling, aber ich finde der hat starke Nuancen, die ihn von der Masse abheben und dadurch in Erinnerung bleiben lässt. Auch wenn das nicht brutal ausdifferenziert ist. Sehr rauchig in der Nase und dunkel am Gaumen. Der Abgang ist lang und rauchig
