The vanilla comes at you like a fistful of baking-mix vanilla sugar — one member says exactly that, and most of the room agrees it's a lot. Underneath there's ester, coffee, roasted wood and some tropical fruit, but a synthetic, almost perfumed note runs through the whole thing. Odd, spicy, high-ester Spanish rum at cask strength. 8:On the nose, esters, slightly chemical feeling, tropical fruits with banana and pineapple, grapes, roasted wood notes, caramelized, spicy vanilla, vegetal molasses, sweet with honey, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, allspice is very strong, leather, roasted nuts, burnt sugar, coffee arise, slightly resinous wood, molasses becomes herbaceous, cherry and green fruits join. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, slightly synthetic, vegetal, briny, perfumed, fruity with cherry, green and tropical fruits, there are tons of roasted wood notes like caramel, burnt sugar, pastry, coffee and quite strong allspice, vanilla, tannins. 8:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, synthetic and a bit dirty, with a lot of roasted oak notes, spicy and smoky, allspice still very strong, fruity with tropical, citrus fruits, molasses is sweet with honey, grassy.

Oh dear, what is this? Somehow it smells and tastes like someone mixed vanilla sugar from mom's baking box with a bit of water and alcohol. Overall not a hit, probably not bad for baking, but not for drinking.

Fand den gar nicht so schlecht nach einiger Zeit im Glas. Da ist dann neben dem hervorstechenden Merkmal Ester auch eine gute Röstigkeit erkennbar, sehr viel Kaffee aber auch etwas Vanille, gar nicht mal so schlecht.

Interesting, but in some way also strange. I haven’t had this profile in the glass before. Esters, different fruits and spices alternate. Unfortunately, there’s a constant artificial note.

A rather strange rum. On the nose, I'm almost exclusively overwhelmed by vanillin... as if I stuck my nose directly into vanilla baking powder. At first, there were still minimal hints of ester, wax, and honey... On the palate, first heavy sweetness and vanilla, then quickly followed by an artificial note. Some tannins and later passion fruit are also noticeable. The finish is bitter, herbal, and slightly artificial.

Interesting how much the taste changes with oxidation. The bottle was opened and immediately hints of Hampden. After about 1 month, almost all the ester with the Hampden DNA has faded and baking spice/vanilla remains. Too bad, too artificial/round.

A Spanish Style High Ester Rum. Basically an exciting bottling and interesting to have in the glass. Only in the end for me it is the (penetrating, slightly artificial) vanilla note of a Diplomatico on steroids. Vanilla overkill with a slight ester note and some wood.
