A rather harsh rum at first, I preferred to wait a month or two before reviewing it. A very woody nose with dried fruits, caramel, leather, chocolate, oak, cigar box, and wax (which was very strong and almost annoying at first). The palate is full-bodied with very well-integrated alcohol. The old caramel side is more pronounced than on the nose. A lot of bitterness too but elegant. The leather and dried fruits are well present. The wax too, which leaves a taste of waxed wood on the finish. A very beautiful Cuban rum, probably the best I've tasted so far. Atypical and yet delicious for those who know how to wait a bit.

A mature and noble-acting drop. Alcohol not noticeable on the nose, a bit more on the palate, in the relatively short finish again not noteworthy. Leather, muscovado sugar, molasses, wood polish, surprisingly smoke and hardly any fruit. A rather dry-spicy representative of the Spanish style without the malt sweetness of the TWA 1963 bottling, which personally seemed a bit more pleasing and less demanding to me. Overall a very nice rum that, if it really (as stated on the label) matured in Scotland on Cuba until bottling, despite the initially off-putting price in the mid three-digit range, on closer inspection was almost a bargain compared to rums of similar age fully tropical aged in Jamaica or Guyana.

#6008 29.11.2025 Rum tasting at Whisky Watcher in Odense. This is a very good rum and better than the previous 60 year release. Nice and complex with fruit and caramel and nice roasted notes. The longer it stays in the glass the more caramel comes out until after an hour it is basically a caramel factory in the glass.

Mal wieder ein ordentlicher Cubaner.. die Nase ist recht betörend und komplex.. und auch der Gaumen kann überzeugen. Alt und ehrwürdig ist das Gesamtbild dieses 64er Jahrganges. Der gefällt mir richtig gut…ein Dank an Gunnar

Tasted together with the extended FranconianTasting gang, but with honorary member Jakob. In this 3-flight RX19982, RX25592 and RX22454. All old Cubans provided by Rumurmel. For me the ranking would be: 1. RX25592 2. RX19982 3. RX22454

Astringent and slightly smoky, with dominant notes of dried fruits and wood. Overall very sweet, indicating a clear dosage. The price is justified for the age, but for the quality I would never pay it at all.

Sehr angenehm zu genießen. Die Nase verspricht ein paar Früchte und gute Röstaromen. Gerne Geschmack kommt zuerst mit angenehmer Röstung mit leichter Süße etwas dunkel Schokolade und Karamell aber wenig Früchte. Für mich dennoch eine 9,1 da er sehr angenehm im Mund bleibt und trotz des Alters nicht bitter wird. Der Abgang könnte etwas länger sein.

Crème brûlée, wood, raisins, spicy, slightly pleasant dirty notes, bourbon vanilla, sweet, fresh, slightly sparkling! Exciting changing aroma nuances. Not very complex but good. Medium-long finish.

The first 30 minutes or so in the glass (from a fresh bottle) was all coffee, leather and wax. On the nose it reminded me of scotch whisky bottled long ago and recently opened. Some mushrooms and earthy (but not quite peaty) aromas. On the palate some sweetness but not overtly so, tons of coffee beans and cacao. Blind I might not have guessed it was a rum. After about 30 minutes the rumminess started coming through. It balanced out to a well aged rum, with a bit of funk but still predominantly coffee, cacao nibs and maybe some spice. Medium finish, The texture was thick, almost syrupy. At this price, for a little piece of history, we throughly enjoyed it.
