#6932 19.06.2026 Finally back from our company outing where we had nice food and I stuck with Diet Coke so I could drive home from work. Walked the 7.8 km to the event and back to exercise a bit. Now listening to some nice tracks by Audiobass, Yodis, Anton Pallmer and Roman Messer on Spotify. A very good rum with a pretty decent price tag in my mind. Intense profile with roasted wood, overripe fruit, polish, herbs, floral, honey and tannins.

Fits perfectly with my experiences with the 95 proof EMBs. The probably longer aging time lets the wood/cask come through a bit more here than in the ones I've tasted so far. The finish is a bit too dry for me.

Last Swell de Spirits sample for tonight. This Clarendon EMB is from 1995. On the nose: Woody, menthol,tannings, light chocolate notes. Overripe fruits like papaya and banana. Light earthy notes as the rum opens up. Taste: Dark. Woody, tannings, menthol notes. Spicy notes like peppery notes, leather notes. Palate calms down and you get nice mocha notes in the end. For a such a aged rum, i think the integration of alcohol could be slightly better. Finish: Woody, spicy and oak notes. Some dried fruits and bananas. Light herbal and eucalyptus notes in the end. Long finish. Another great release from Swell de Spirits. Good balance between woody, herbal and fruity notes.

Lacquer, solvent and very fresh, plenty of camphor. Tropical fruits, this is how a fruit stand in Rio smells. 🇧🇷 Banana bread and herbs. Little wood and spices. Bold, complex. Awesome!! 💦💦 now caramel and toffee. On the palate, the tongue gets burned off at first. Without water, just alcohol and woody spice. Oily. 💦💦 Full-bodied, very pleasant. Long, warming finish. Great EMB 95. 🇯🇲

Another excellent representative of the Clarendon EMB-Marks from 1995… the mix of freshness, wood, and fruitiness is perfectly balanced.. the finish also benefits from this and lingers pleasantly for a long time

👃 Woody varnished and lacquered, tannins, blond tobacco, dark chocolate, tanned product from a holiday shop in Ardèche. With aeration, the wood gives way to a characteristic note of iced peach with mint, more fresh and peppery mint than peach. This mint evolves into weed. A bit of sap, wax, and pine nuts. The fruits arrive and express themselves in various forms; tropical fruits (mango, papaya, grilled pineapple), dried, stewed and caramelized fruits, blood orange, juicy peach. 😋 Alcohol liveliness, very (too) present wood, some will say. Burnt oak, rough barrel tannins, black tea, bitter and peppery mint, spicy cocoa, green tobacco, leather, wax, menthol freshness. The fruits come next but like the nose, they are in the background; tropical fruits, peach, caramelized compote. ⛳ Long, warm, intense, bitter, rough wood. The peppery mint sticks to the palate, followed by Reunion chili candy, sesame seeds, light stewed tropical fruits, bitterness of green passion fruit. 🫗 Empty glass very herbal, tobacco, green tea, dried mint, damp hay. 🏅 Very good Clarendon 95 with lots of wood. A very beautiful woodiness at the expense of the fruits which are a bit more in the background. For me, it is not at the level of the Warren Kong / Rum Artesanal / Fine Drams trio, but not far behind. 89+.

Small 95 EMB X tasting: as expected, a dream in the glass. For me, a perfect harmony of wood, menthol and tropical fruit which can be perceived in varying strengths from nose to finish. Compared to the RA, the finish is super harmonious and not so dry.

A delicious Strong Clarendon. On the nose and palate, it is a real bomb. Delicious tropical fruit with plenty of menthol and a light butteriness, peppery, thick texture with a hint of caramel and black tea. Everything in good balance.

Strong Clarendon. Dreamy tropical nose, lots of ripe fruit, menthol, slight butteriness. Oily thick consistency in the mouth, also full power tropical aging, very tasty. Also great is the nice menthol note that makes the rum additionally interesting and complex.

Classic 95 EMB with the awesome combo of wood, menthol, and the amazing fermented fruit mix of guava, half-ripe mango, papaya, starfruit, ambarella, banana, and more. The wood doesn’t overpower in the finish either; menthol and fruit stay in the spotlight. You basically can’t go wrong with 95 EMBs. Feel-good profile!

Very dark profile. Perfect balance between wood and fruit, far less bitter than I had feared. The 24 years of tropical maturation make this bottling very complex. There's a hint of chocolate mint in the background on the nose that I've never had before. If you give it the necessary time, it doesn't need to hide behind the other top 95 EMBs. Nice barrel that Mika has dug up.

Wow! What a rum! I'm totally thrilled. Super nice menthol notes combined with peach and tropical ripeness. Alcohol very well integrated. Really good stuff!

With its 30 years on the hump, the oldest EMB 95 tasted so far. Super dark color. On the nose butterscotch, toffee, dried fruit, old cask, a light mentholated freshness. Mocha on the palate, lots of old cask and tannins, rather dry on the finish. Overall, I miss the balance that was still quite good in the 'younger' EMBs (more mango, papaya on the nose). Also very barrel-heavy on the palate...but of course still a very good EMB 95 (are there any bad ones?)

Complex, rich nose. Spices, fruits (a bit juicy mirabelle), a bit of alcohol. A bit toasted. Wood without too much funk. A bit comforting: it makes you want it very very much. Beautiful attack, powerful. Barrel, toasted. Pepper. No fruit at the start. Red fruit, raspberry on the length. Very very long.
