Sip this neat and mint is the headline — one taster calls the mint "overragende," front and center, backed by roasted wood, leather and a citrus-and-tropical-fruit edge. 7,9:On the nose, slightly alcoholic, roasted wood notes, allspice, minty, citrus, dried and tropical fruits, leather, winterly, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, sweet pastry and gingerbread occupy our nosetrils, red fruits. 8,3:On the palate, the attack is minty, slightly bitter, oily with sweet roasted wood notes like caramel, leather, smoky, spicy with allspice, winterly, fruity with tropical, citrus and green fruits, the molasses is earthy, fresh with tea. 7,9:The finish is quite short, dry and tannic, slightly furry, with toasted wood, spicy, minty molasses and dried, tropical fruits, bitter orange. I did let this rum sit in the glass for a good 20 minutes before the review. On the nose: Minty, woody and roasted notes. Mild spices, leather and dried fruits. Little bit of alcoholic on the nose. Taste: Minty notes. Oily mouthfeel. Fruity notes. Citrus notes. Thin notes. A bit alcoholic Finish: Mint notes, woody notes, roasted. Little bit of fruity notes. Quite dry finish. This rum has its moments, but perhaps too thin notes and oily for my liking.

#1719 16-01-2026 - Rate 8.6 Another TDL from The Colours of Rum. Have been very found of their 2016 releases in 2025 and Up Spirits #3 But what about this one with 10% lower ABV? It delivers. Nose of tropical fruit, mint, wood, leather and spices. Palate follows close. Long finish dominated by wood, mint and leather. 24-04-2026 - Rate 7.8 Had this one after a great rum. Perhaps it played a part in the low rating.

Quite a young TDL with a solid flavor profile but not really complex. Fruits and light mint on the nose. The alcohol can also be slightly perceived. On the palate then clearly stronger mint, also some wood and bitter orange, which is still noticeable for a long time in the finish.

So this is also a very intense T.D.L, the mint is of course outstanding and prominent in this rum. Otherwise, it is still slightly woody, but mostly minty tasting like T.D.L.

Great complex rum! At first relatively round, towards Foursquare, then in the middle nice minty Trinidad notes. Medium-long finish.
