Most who've tried it land somewhere good, with one caveat worth knowing: a sharp acidic streak, vinegar and gooseberry, cuts through the fruit. Underneath is classic New Yarmouth — mango, papaya, candied fruit and that marzipan-biscuit-dough funk, all at 16 years. The sweet, thick palate wins fans; a couple find the acidity and heat get bitey. One member calls it a "decadent tot".

I don't find this New Yarmouth bad at all... on the nose, nice ester marzipan cookie dough notes... also lots of fruit like mango, pineapple, papaya, and some berry jam. On the palate, unfortunately, it falls a bit flat... very sharp and edgy, but still has lots of fruit and marzipan esters. I just miss a bit of umami 😅😅🤞

My first 2008 New Yarmouth that I know of. The basic DNA with lots of funk, fruit, and the typical cookie dough note is there. However, everything is overshadowed by a fairly intense acidity note that reminds me of vinegar and gooseberry. Not quite what I had imagined. Not bad, but also far from the quality level of all the 2009 New Yarmouths I know in comparison.

#1819 14-08-2026 - Rate 8.3 Have tried many New Bedford Park bottles the past few months. Really high quality almost all of them. And this New Yarmouth is no different. Have tasted a few New Yarmouth’s at age between 12 and 18 years and this one is in the better end. Really like the label with the books. Many of Bedford’s labels are really good

I really enjoy this New Yarmouth UK Rum Club/RCC pick. Bias : I'm generally a New Yarmouth and high ester funk fan. This is both of those things, with the unique ageing making it super sweet and interesting. It's the WK mark with 16 years aging. Loads of red and tropical fruit, with tonnes of sweet funk that's quite different to high ester Long pond or Hampden. It has a big, thick and sweet palate with a huge amount of flavour that's not dominated by the wood. Feels like a decadent tot. One of my favourite rums of 2025.

Taste reminds me of a vale royal rather than a New Yarmouth. The finish takes a back seat to a big, medicinal And acidic estery rum which fills your nostrils and punches with some alcohol too. A good rum, but to me doing two different things at once.

Needs a lot of air. After half an hour it becomes fruitier. But the alcohol is not well integrated. The New Yarmouth 2005 Jamaica is significantly better.
