6,9:On the nose, slightly alcoholic, sweet toasted wood notes like chocolate, nuts, spicy, toasted coconut, a lot of dried fruits like raisins, apricots, some orange peel, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, tobacco and leather are obvious, flowery molasses, the brings slight smoke, caramel, vanilla, hints of cappuccino. 6,7:On the palate, the attack is mild, thin, slightly alcoholic and soapy, with toasted wood and sweet notes like caramel, cocoa, cappuccino, leather, some biscuits, spicy, the molasses is candied, as the fruits dried with raisins, apricots, tropical with coconut and citrus. 6,7:The finish is short, dry, slightly tannic, thin, with sweet toasted wood notes, spicy, various fruits like dried, yellow, plum, coconut and hints of banana, grassy, flowery molasses. On the nose: Light notes typical to Foursquare rums. Caramel, coconut, vanilla and little bit of woody notes. Alcoholic, so the integration of alcohol could be better. Taste: Alcoholic and light, thin notes. Caramel, coconut, woody notes Finish: Light woody notes, light caramel notes, light coconut notes, light spicy notes from the barrel. Thin. Dry. Short finish. Im guessing that this is cheap supermarket rum for beginners also due the low abv. If only the integration of alcohol would be better, but still i think i would rather try this in cocktails.

Yeah sure, it's not the typical supermarket rum, but also not the typical Foursquare. For a REWE rum already a beast, the typical Foursquare markers are clearly recognizable, vanilla, coconut and a slight sweetness.

Thanks to skyfly for the experimental split. You can already tell it’s probably a Foursquare, but somehow it feels artificially sweet and thin, although it’s quite alcoholic compared to 40%.

Basically, I don't rate rums based on their price, but I might mention it if the price-performance ratio is right. This is definitely the case here. Even if it may not reach its predecessor, you get an easy sipper here that is quite flat due to dilution but really delivers a lot for the "small wallet"!

More likely a rum for beginners. The Foursquare coconut note is only marginally present. Otherwise, due to the low ABV, it lacks depth. I can't judge if it was sweetened afterwards.

Nice sipper, light notes of coconut and cookie dough. Unfortunately a bit thin and short on the finish. Otherwise a solid beginner rum at an unbeatable price point. Seems to be a lucky hit compared to the different batches...

More than a solid standard rum. Very balanced and accessible. Caramel, vanilla, oak, coconut and dried fruits. On the palate the slight sweetening is noticeable, overall a pleasant and easy drinking profile. Excellent price-quality level.

At first, a somewhat relatively pleasant sweet fruit, but that was it. Otherwise, it seems to me to be somewhat sweetened and a candidate for headaches. It's alcoholic and has many edges. Disharmonious, borderline everything. Caution, I mean the new Rewe Feine Welt, not the Barbados predecessor. For me, not a good value for money.

Nose: primarily caramel/vanilla-sweet. Also wood and coconut. I perceive the fruits only very subtly. Unfortunately also a bit alcoholic. Taste: again caramel-sweet with light coconut. Also some fruit. Unfortunately also a bit thin and alcoholic. Recognizable as a Foursquare. Doesn't really grab me and I don't need it again. Unfortunately, other Foursquares haven't tasted that good to me so far, so this one can't really score with me either. Price/performance really good. For a cheap Foursquare, however, I would (spend a bit more and) go for another.

The review is for the new release 'Rewe feine Welt Caribbean Rum 8 Anos', not the old "secret tip" Barbados with the white label. If the new one is a blend, it still mainly has the typical Barbados profile with vanilla, caramel, and some coconut, especially in the finish. For the price asked, definitely not bad, you can go for it. Drinks: - Neat: 3.5/5 - Rum Cola: 3/5 - Rum Mule: 3.5/5

Anyone who knows the old Rewe fine world rum won't enjoy this one; far worse than its predecessor... definitely a bit sweetened. A slight sweetness can be tasted and some pepper, and then it's gone.

For €12.99 you can't go wrong. Not too complex, an entry-level rum. Definitely sweetened. Reminds me of Diplomatico Reserva.
