First it's closed and woody, then ripe stone fruit — peach, apricot, mango — pushes through, framed by the eucalyptus-and-mint note that marks these Trinidad pot-stills. Blackcurrant shows up on the second sip. The extra oak from long ageing sits well here, and at 57% the alcohol stays remarkably tidy.

Solid 2000s TDL.. Unlike many other 2000s, it has a bit more wood influence due to age, which I quite like here in combination with the classic mint. The alcohol is well integrated.

Tested with two T.D.L from 2000, the Swell and the new TWJ. Yes, the Ricci family has a 2003, but it definitely can't keep up with the other two here, as for me it's too alcoholic. The TWJ is a bit better compared to their last release. In conclusion, the Swell and TWJ are on par for me, not necessarily the biggest T.D.L lover.

A very pleasant TDL in the end, after I initially disliked the alcoholic note on the nose. Black currants and peach harmonize very well with mint, eucalyptus and young wood, which is surprisingly positive considering the long barrel aging.

A very pleasant, softer TDL in the glass. Delicious chocolate, mint with eucalyptus notes, tropical fruit, and light characteristics of young wood. Seems slightly less complex or full-bodied than the spicier TDLs on the market. But certainly no less good because of this; it is a delightful treat.

This rum needs some time to open up. I think this rum did sit in the glass for a good 30 minutes. On the nose: At first it was woody, roasted and it had light burnt demerera sugar note in it. Once the rum opens up its woody, roasted, light menthol/minty notes in the background, althou this note gets stronger as the rum sits in the glass. Main note is roasted woody notes mixed with confections, baking spices notes that has some caramel notes to it. Taste: Very complex fruity notes at first, i dont know how to describe this. Delicious. Then, as the rum has been sitting in the glass for anhour, the fruity notes are taken over by more typical T.D.L eucalyptus, minty and black tea notes. Woody notes. Some fruity berry notes in the background. It has a slight alcoholic feel to it. Finish: Woody notes, minty notes, tea notes. Roasted. Medium finish. The palate did change quite a bit during my tasting, so i dont know how to rate this. Maybe dont let this rum sit in the glass for too long.

Needs a while in the glass. Not as fruity and minty as other vintages. Rather medium wood notes, some mint, stone fruit. Pleasant sweetness at the back. The alcohol integration is great.

Light color for a 2000, rich nose of pastries, plain flan, exotic fruits, and dried fruits. Very pronounced sugar, brown sugar, even Demerara. Frank and fresh on the palate with eucalyptus and a very subtle hint of menthol. It holds up remarkably well for a 2000, with custard on the finish. I was very intrigued not to find blackcurrant on the first sip... But that was before the second sip, when the blackcurrant returned to boost the aromas behind the hint of mint. Custard is part of this superb aromatic range. Medium-length, warm finish with alcohol!

Nez relativement fermé, il lui faut du temps. Puis des fruits jaunes et un caramel leger. En bouche, ca explose, des fruits bien murs, mangue et peche en tete. La finesse mais avec un tres joli peps. En toute de fin de bouche, un gros retour de mangue bien mure et juteuse (l element declancheur pour moi). Belle longueur. Un cran net au dessus du twj 2000 (1ere edition). Bref on ne s ennuie pas, un peps qui fait du bien sur un 2000, super choix. Bravo a swell et versus.

Quite closed on the nose, somewhat sweetish. On the palate quite full and oily, with a nice sweetness. Only very lightly a pale yellow fruit, plus cookie dough. Very pleasant and elegant, really very pleasant to drink and yet very full on the palate. A quiet achiever with full power. For me underrated here, I like it very much!

#7226 27.08.2026 Enjoying a few rums while packing for the weekend trip to the German Rum Festival in Berlin. Listening to some new Psy Trance on Spotify at the same time. Really nice TLD with a good price tag at release. Fresh and fruity profile with pastries, spice, roasted wood, herbs, mint and a natural sweet palate.

This TDL 2000 charms from the very first nose with a beautiful gourmandise. The notes of ripe apricot blend with an elegant menthol freshness, highlighted by a touch of dark chocolate that brings depth and complexity. On the palate, the yellow fruits fully express themselves before giving way to a controlled woodiness. The freshness accompanies the tasting from start to finish, while the dark chocolate returns in the finish for a conclusion both rich and harmonious. A reference full of character and balance.

Very cool, TDL Lots of indulgence, influence of the wood is present while in my memories the 2000s are less marked by the essence of the barrel. There is a beautiful harmony between red fruits, menthol, woodiness and the intensity of the alcohol, we probably deserve a higher score and its little brother released later, deprived of staying superior.
