The nose almost undersells it — thin sugarcane, brown sugar and baking spice, and more than one member admits early disappointment. Then the palate flips: esters, nail polish, tropical and candied fruit, spicy oak and a little mint, all lifted by an ex-DOK Jamaican cask finish. At 61.2% the alcohol mostly sits well integrated, though it nips at the end for some. A Ghana pot-still that rewards patience past the pour.

8,6:On the nose, sugarcane, fresh, vegetal, flowery, balanced, fermented, creamy, esters, funky, red, tropical fruits, roasted wood with cocoa, brown sugar, smoky, spicy, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, citrus fruits are out, candied, some tannins, pastry, vanilla, fresh tea, yoghurt and slightly burnt tones with rubber, hints of bacon. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, nail polish, fermented citrus, red and tropical fruits, later slightly pungent, some candied, sugarcane is flowery, grassy, fresh, as the wood is roasted with nuts, brown sugar, spicy with allspice, baking spices, vanilla.When the rum is well rested, berries and dried fruits arise. 8,3:The finish is medium long, dry and tannic, funky, with tropical fruits, sweet sugar cane honey, grassy, roasted oak, smoky, spicy, medicinal with nail polish, a bit plastic. Profile quite similar to a low-ester Jamaican. For 5 years already quite respectable, but the alcohol stings a bit at the end. Successful bottling.

Wow, a really good rum, I never would have expected that. And I haven't been to Ghana yet either, so it's about time to travel there :) It's very funky, esters and nail polish dominate here, but it's also slightly spicy.

After the first nose, I was a bit disappointed: cane sugar, brown sugar, and baking spices – but somehow I had expected it to be like that. On the palate, a positive surprise: the ex-DOK cask really influenced the rum positively, so you can perceive both tropical and dried fruits as well as esters/nail polish. Besides that, you taste light mint, spices, and wood. Alcohol perfectly integrated!

Somehow, I've always liked these Ghana bottlings. With this one, the finish adds that certain extra kick. Once again, a bit of variety from the usual run-of-the-mill rums currently on the market.

On the nose: Little bit of sugarcane notes. Very woody, roasted with vegetal notes like pencil shavings as a main note. Dry. Hints of fruity notes in the background. Taste: Esters, woody notes, spices and little bit of sugarcane notes. Pencil shavings notes. Mouthfeel feels like mixture of lightly oily and lightly creamy if that makes sense. Then i get light minty notes and some vegetal and herbal notes. I dont get much of fruity notes on this one. Finish: Woody, dry and spices. Light leather, light nutty notes. Herbal notes in the background. Medium finish. I think good rum with typical notes that you get from Ghana rums, but i didn't get any fruity notes eventhou this was finished in DOK barrel .

I also find this rum from Ghana very tasty because the finish really enhanced it. On the nose, I get sugarcane, tropical fruits, vegetal and roasted notes, baking spices, and floral aromas. Then the nice funk from the distillery comes in, complemented by fresh woodiness, vanilla, and cocoa. On the palate, the influence of the finishing is also very positive. Esters, tropical fruits, sugarcane, spicy wood, citrus fruits, lychee, floral and grassy notes, candied fruits, and mint spread very pleasantly in the mouth. The short to medium finish is nicely sweet with esters, spicy wood, tropical fruits, honey, oak, sugarcane, and that lovely funkiness. The finish fades out with smoky aromas, grass, peach, and lychee. I think I want to discover more rums in this direction. Thanks to @Skyfly for this convincing discovery 😀

A nice surprise, this rhum from Ghana. Pretty light on the nose despite the ABV, which is clearly noticeable, with some sugar, especially the powedered one, spices, some grassy note and sugarcane, resembling a vieux sajous in terms of profile. After some time, some hint of chocolate. The palate is more complex, starting where the nose ended, with the sugarcane, but there are a few more layers, with hint of esters and fruit. A nice surprise

To be honest, I didn't expect much here. So I'm positively surprised, but without the DOK finish it would be too one-dimensional for me. Barrel finish can have a positive influence after all 😉. Nice discovery by Skyfly, thanks.

I wanted to try something new and this split came just right, it sounded interesting and exciting. I agree with the previous speaker, I was already disappointed when opening and pouring because there was really hardly anything to smell. A bit of brown sugar, very thin and delicate. But then in the mouth, on the palate, on the tongue, a real surprise. Fruit and sugar and esters, a little wood fit together great and the alcohol leads to a cozy warmth. I really like it!
