Vidya Anansi 2019
Don't judge this one by the pour: several tasters were almost let down by the quiet nose (sugarcane, brown sugar, baking spice) before the palate flipped things around. That's where the ex-DOK Jamaican cask wakes it up — esters, nail polish, tropical and dried fruit, peppery oak. One member likened it to a vieux Sajous in profile. Fruit-finders are split: a few got peach and lychee, others mostly wood and pencil shavings.
- DOK finish adds depth
- Funky tropical esters
- Well-integrated cane profile

Quiet nose, DOK-funky cane palate Most agree the DOK finish saves it from being one-dimensional — quiet nose, livelier palate of esters, fruit and spicy oak. The 61% heat nips a bit at the end.

Alkohol perfekt eingebunden!

A nice surprise, this rhum from Ghana. Pretty light on the nose despite the ABV, which is clearly noticeable, with some sugar, especially the powedered one, spices, some grassy note and sugarcane, resembling a vieux sajous in terms of profile. After some time, some hint of chocolate. The palate is more complex, starting where the nose ended, with the sugarcane, but there are a few more layers, with hint of esters and fruit. A nice surprise
