This is a light but very tasty rum from Ecuador, which has retained a rather young flavor profile for its high age. The nose is very nice to smell and extremely creamy. I have many notes of sweet pastries, but also fruity hints. It goes from caramel, vanilla, apricot, butterscotch, pear and mirabelle to woody, peppery, nutty, cappuccino and baking spices. On the palate, it is first light and restrained. Caramel, banana, vanilla, butterscotch and apricot go with a delicate complexity over to wood, nuts, chocolate, peppery sharpness, leather and Demerara sugar. The short to medium finish lives from oak, vanilla, chocolate, nuts and cream toffee. A slight spice, young wood and floral accents are also present. It is not a record-breaking bottling, but definitely worth a try for fans of light and buttery aromas.

#7274 02.09.2026 Relaxing with a few samples while watching a Bollywood action movie on Amazon prime. Pretty decent rum but the price tag is a bit off in my mind. A sweet profile with fruits, honey, spice, nutts, roasted wood, molasses, chocolate, floral, sugarcane, coffee and some tannins.

The Cuatro Leyendas has a sweet, creamy nose with lovely aromas of vanilla, cookie dough and cachaça. On the palate slightly woody with apricot, butterscotch, vanilla and very subtle pepper notes. For its 35 years it has almost no depth and is far too delicate. The finish is short and thin with very light notes of light oak, licorice and light herbs.
