The first sip from the glass didn't really convince me, I found it a bit strong, alcoholic. But after a while in the glass, it developed well. Just wait a bit.

#7227 27.08.2026 Enjoying a few rums while packing for the weekend trip to the German Rum Festival in Berlin. Listening to some new Psy Trance on Spotify at the same time. Very good clarendon with a really nice price tag in my mind. Intense profile with fruits, mint, wood, coffee, caramel, herbs and light tannins.

There is a lot going on in the mouth. I really had to try a few sips of this first. Starts nice and warm with cherries and chocolate. This then transitions to tropical fruits and menthol. The alcohol is well integrated and has a deliciously sweet finish.

Another Swell de Spirits rum, this took maybe about 30 minutes to open up. On the nose: Its spicy, lightly medicinal with menthol notes, light cherry notes and it has little bit of flowery notes to it. Taste: Oily and slightly dirty mouthfeel. Herbal notes, minty notes and menthol notes. Then you get mixture of spicy notes like light leather, anise/licorice and cardamom notes. Full bodied and good integration of alcohol, eventhou the high abv is present. Finish: Herbal notes, light earthy notes, light minty notes and menthol notes. Roasted. Medium finish. Palate is leaning little bit towards to darker notes, but still manages to be a quite easy sipper in that area, atleast to me.

The almost 67% ABV really pushes, you have to let it breathe a bit first. Then a really good EMB2010 reveals itself. Lots of tropical fruit and daft cake. I also really like it on the palate. I wonder how it would be in 15-20 years. Comparable to today's EMB95?

Had another glass and I have to say, I really like this one a lot. Gotta rate it higher and get myself another bottle. It has a lot of that spicy, herbal TDL character. Mixed with the tropical fruits, it fits perfectly.

The typical Clarendon notes like cherry and menthol are recognizable in hints, but even more so the tropical fruits. The alcohol is super integrated. Nice, long, fruity finish.

Yes, I also think you can recognize Clarendon quite well here. Esters are clearly noticeable, but also tropical fruits and especially herbs, spice, mint, and menthol. This rules out Hampden ;-)

It's vacation time, I'm going to taste this rum to celebrate that. On the nose, ripe fruits. On the palate, well-ripe tropical fruits and a slight herbal note. The finish is long. The alcohol is well integrated, even if it still hits hard 😅. It's very good. The vacation is starting off great, 26° outside, 66.9° inside, all is well 👌

Very good Clarendon. On the palate notes of tropical fruits unfold, gently transitioning into herbal, medicinal tones and finishing with a slight menthol touch. Despite the higher alcohol content, which is noticeable on the nose, it is excellently integrated.
