Opinions land in a narrow band here: a good TDL, but the Caroni cask is the sticking point. Nearly everyone says they can't taste the Caroni influence, or only a faint "dirtier mouthfeel" late on. What you get is a full-bodied 2003 Trinidad column rum: peach, mango and redcurrant, mint and menthol, wood, roast and a syrupy brown-sugar sweetness. The 62% ABV feels a touch hot and not fully knit.

Tasting date 14.08.2026 Together with Mr. D Jungberg & Mr. S Nørregaard RX25818 T.D.L X Caroni cask. Nose: Woody and oak cask notes, light minty, vanilla and apricot. Mouth: Short fruity sweetness, dominated by wood, oak and minty notes, earthy roots. Residual tast is mostly woddy and mint. Short pleasant fruit sweetness from yellow stone fruit, turn quick to dusty and dry. Dried light apricot notes. No trace of X Caroni cask. The glass: Oak cask. Tasting “In the garden”

2003 TDL... in a Caroni cask?? I was expecting something completely different... at least some dirt/tar or dark berries paired with mint/menthol.. But what came out was a heavy caramel sweetness, some mint and fruit.. Broadly speaking, still some roastiness.. Well, rather disappointing

Don't know what to make of this, sure T.D.L is still subtly recognizable here, but not as strong as in the original. I also can't really taste the Caroni finish, Caroni notes are barely noticeable here.

#6377 21.02.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after a super hard day at the gym. A prett OK release in my mind, but also a bit sub par for a TDL. Wood and ABV is not perfectly integrated, but with some resting it gets better. Nice fruits and the expected mint with some tobacco and ginger in the mix.

This rum did sit in the glass for a good 40 minutes while i was making drinks. On the nose: Pretty mild notes on the nose. Woody notes, roasted some methol and minty notes and also little bit of ginger notes here and there. Taste: Intense, alcoholic. Fruity notes, woody notes, roasted, menthol and minty notes. At first it has syrupy mouthfeel but it changes towards tobacco and little bit of dirtier mouthfeel. This might be the Caroni casks influence on the rum. Finish: Minty notes as the main note, roasted and woody notes. Little bit of vanilla. Integration of alcohol could have been better and stronger notes would have increased the score. The Caroni cask influence was in the background (A little bit)

Edit: Mint rather in the background. If the Caroni cask did anything, then it made it more bitter/darker. In my eyes, it was not really an upgrade. Very good TDL which I can't fully evaluate due to my cold. Mint present from nose to finish, also tropical fruits and peach. On the palate also slight dried fruits and a syrupy sweetness. Wood and roast aromas well integrated.

Tasting together with F. Kraemmer & Silas. On 14/08/2026 Nose on an adventure👃: I sense mint & ginger. Tropical fruits & a bit of mustiness. Tongue on an adventure 🥃: I taste mint, light ginger, light citrus, light toasted wood. The tail of the story💫: a medium-long finish mainly of toasted wood & caramel.

Another 2003 TDL, but mint is rather weak here. You don't really notice the storage in the Caroni cask, after longer time in the glass I feel that very faint dirty notes are perceptible in the background, but that could also be imagination. Decent TDL, but not interesting price-wise.

Bam! The Franco-Belgian bomb is here. TDL 2003 finish Caroni, enough to make you salivate, at a very fair price for a collab by the way. If the nose is a bit too tame & gourmand for my taste, the intensity is incredible. Much more tropical fruits, citrus, menthol, and those marked roasted/woody notes on a base of gasoline. Anyone who didn't note these Caroni scents sweating on the finish missed something ;)

Pleasant T.D.L, full of fruit, mint, and spices. Aging in a Caroni cask didn't add much to the rum's profile. Neither in taste nor in aroma. Still, it's not bad, just the Caroni cask label leads to higher expectations.

Wow, once again a very great TDL from Ricci. Not a menthol and mint bomb now, but intense, full body with edges and corners and nice fruit notes. The alcohol is wonderfully integrated, and the longer it sits the better it gets. Only leather is missing from the Caroni...

Typical TDL with mint, peach, wood. Unfortunately, the alcohol is not so well integrated and the column stands out somewhat negatively. I can't detect anything from Caroni Finnish.

On the nose, lots of fruit, peach, mango, currant. Presence of a bit of caramel and wood. On the palate, a beautiful basket of fruits, still the sweetness of a nice caramelized brown sugar, but well balanced by the acidity of the currant. The wood is present at the end of the palate. Relatively long finish. I don’t perceive any note of the Caroni cask. Nevertheless, a nice rum.

Tested with two T.D.L from 2000, the swell and the new TWJ. Yes, the Ricci family has a 2003, but it definitely can't keep up with the other two here, as for me it's too alcoholic. The TWJ is a bit better compared to their last release. In conclusion, the Swell and TWJ, as someone who is not necessarily the biggest T.D.L fan, are on par.
