Distilia Foursquare Barbados Rum (for Bar 1802) 2006
Toasted coconut, caramel and dark chocolate lead here, with dried apricot, roasted nuts and a coffee-like "flüssiger Cappuccino" note underneath. This is a classic 18-year Foursquare from a well-picked cask: rich, balanced, and with the near-60% heat tucked away neatly. A few tasters wished the finish ran longer, but most call it a very good example of the house style.

Rich, coconut-and-caramel cask-strength Foursquare Most tasters love it — coconut, caramel, cocoa and nuts with the cask strength well integrated. Classic Foursquare done right, though a couple felt the finish fades a touch short.

Wow - top-notch cask strength and probably the best '06 I've had in the glass so far. The aroma spectrum is extremely complex and runs consistently from nose to finish. (Dried) fruits stay in the background, but caramel, various types of coffee, nuts (especially peanut on the palate), dark chocolate, and roasted notes dominate. An awesome rum that will surely sell out quickly again.

#6376 21.02.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after a super hard day at the gym. This is a very nice barrel that 1802 has picked. They sure know how to select the good ones in my mind. A fruity and well balanced Foursquare a bit out of the ordinary and with some nice coconut notes in the profile.

🎨 Very pretty amber color with golden highlights. 👃 No doubt, this is definitely Foursquare. A fairly soft and delicate Bourbon oak. Here we have a lovely treat of aromas of lightly toasted coconut, baked vanilla, pastry caramel, as well as artisanal hazelnut and milk chocolate spread. Slight fruitiness of dried fruits, a spicy note of white pepper, then a very nice note of orange blossom and candied orange zest combined with a light menthol veil. A classic, delicate, and elegant nose. Special mention for the nearly 60% ABV that is very well integrated. 😋 A much more present dry oak wood that harmonizes the flavors. I immediately get lots of caramelized, vanilla, and roasted notes. My grandmother’s soft caramel candies, the warmth of mirabelle and plum jam juices with raw unrefined sugar. Quite a bit of spice, black pepper, small dried chili. Then comes a subtle combination of sliced fried banana sprinkled with powdered cinnamon, coconut, and dark chocolate shavings, all served with a hot espresso. A mouthfeel that wants to be warm, straightforward, although more complex than it seems at first. ⛳ A medium-length finish, which is a pity, with a slightly bitter woodiness. A nice treat that continues with vanilla, stewed fruits, caramel, dark chocolate with Espelette pepper, and a touch of salty roasted coffee that’s almost drying. 🏆 A Foursquare that doesn’t fool itself. It’s very well made, shoutout to the nose and palate that respond to each other with a drumbeat. Too bad the finish lacks length and intensity.

8,7:On the nose, toasted wood with roasted nuts, caramel, burnt sugar, chocolate, marzipan, some glue, coconut, dried fruits, orange, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, tropical fruits arise, dried apricots and raisins are obvious, the molasses is flowery, minty, earthy with tobacco, crème brûlée and cappuccino join, allspice. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is intense with toasted/roasted oak notes like cappuccino, chocolate, nuts, caramelized burnt sugar, caramel, spicy with vanilla, baking spices, salty, smoky, fruity with coconut, dried apricots and raisins, citrus fruits, marmelade like. The molasses is flowery, dark with black tea. 8,4:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, with roasted oak notes, spicy, smoky, pairing dried fruits, earthy molasses..

Delicious Foursquare with lots of fine bourbon wood notes, nuts, chocolate, vanilla, coconut, and nice roasted tones. Fits into the high level of Foursquare bottlings – clean and without big surprises.

The expectations were high once again but unfortunately not fully met. This bottling shows high quality, as expected from Foursquare. However, I'm missing that final kick for a better rating.

Tasted once before at Bar 1802 and found it very good. Now enjoying it at home in peace... A very well-balanced, bold Foursquare with a strong bourbon influence. Great on the palate and finish. Awesome spice! More on the upper end of Seale's work. Drinks well...

Full, rich caramel sweetness, oak vanilla, coconut, dried fruits, spices – archetypal and at the same time round and balanced, this is great Foursquare cinema. An excellent cask, great alcohol integration. Outstanding.
Review by Emiliano Distillatomico

Super Foursquare that brings everything you expect. The alcohol integration is perfect and aromatically you get liquid cappuccino with coconut, cinnamon, and plenty of dark chocolate, as well as red grapes and walnut. Nice one and a nice sweetness.

Good Foursquare. Very intense and dark in flavor. It has a bitter note that I don't like very much.

Nut, wood, chocolate, a bit alcoholic, not particularly complex, but a good Foursquare representative.

Wow, a simply magnificent Foursquare, with praline sweetness, aged wood, power and intensity, burnt caramel/molasses, all the qualities of a truly great rum. Stunning, not to mention the label which is just as beautiful.

Tasted at Bar 1802 :) Nose gives dry fruits like apricot and grape along with cocoa, orange and roasted nuts. We can also smell vanilla, dark chocolate, some wood and cappuccino tones. On palate, we find many notes of the nose, but we also get something like marmelade. It's warm and becomes soft quite quickly. Finish is very nice, average to long. Undoubtedly a very nice 2006 Foursquare.

A bit too alcoholic and a bit too unexciting for what Foursquare usually can offer in their standards. I really would want this in much smoother. Still it is not terrible and has all the standard foursquare notes
