The nose is classic Trelawny — glue, ester, pineapple and banana over light caramel — then the palate turns: fruit and honey, and a real chili heat builds through the finish. Well, for me a Hampden, like most others. Glue is definitely noticeable here, also esters and the tropical fruits banana and pineapple. I can't detect a chili finish, probably too hardened ;-) Edit: but after a few sips, I was able to recognize the chili finish as well.

8,4:On the nose, medicinal with esters, glue and rubber, intense, fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, some candied, buttery, fresh, vegetal with chilli, spicy, roasted wood notes like caramel, pastry, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is peppery, vegetal with pepperoni, herbaceous, red fruits arise, the wood is nutty, smoky. 8:On the palate, the attack is intense with vegetal molasses and chilli, red pepper, hot, briny olive, oily, sweet with honey, medicinal with esters, glue, fruity with fermented, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, red,citrus fruits, some candied, buttery, as the wood is roasted with confectionery, oaky, spicy. 7,9:The finish is short, medicinal, fruity with fermented tropical, citrus fruits, hot, spicy with chilli, peppery, briny, the wood is roasted, smoky, spicy, warm.

#7160 14.08.2026 Relaxing with a few rums after a slow week at work and a lot of walking. Listening to some nice trance by Avalon, GMS, Funk Tribu and Vini Vici. Pretty decent Hampden with an OK price tag at release. Fruity profile with spice, honey, spicy, light roasted wood and ester.

What a crazy combo. The nose is dominated by Hampden aromas. On the palate, surprisingly, there's a super fitting mix of Hampden and Sriracha. The spiciness is especially strong in the finish.

Right after pouring into the glass, beautiful Hampden notes come through. Soft and slightly oily on the palate, with fruit, honey, and then slowly the switch to the finish. The hot sauce is really well done, and the finish definitely has noticeable chili and heat. Definitely not an everyday sipper, but as a tasting experience, it's pretty wild.

Feels a bit restrained on the nose when freshly poured. You will find the typical Hampden tropical fruits but it is not straight in your face. It continues on the palette. It feels more round than regular Hampden. Almost as if that Ferrand barrel did that, but could it, after just 2 months? Perhaps in case it was very wet. You will already taste the chili here as well. That continues in the finish where you keep a slight burning sensation on the tongue. If you like spicy food, it is a tasty twist on this rum. All and all it is an interesting rum. Because on the one hand you feel that you are dealing with a tamed and subdued Hampden. At the other hand you have that chili twist, making it spicy and hot. That combination works here because the hot sauce barrel fills in that wild side that the distillate seems to miss. I would argue that this is a nice daily sipper in case you like spicy food.
