Whisky'n'More Hattingen March 2026. Took it as a sample. I actually like it very much. Spahn's Scotwarehouse always has nice bottlings. Here dark chocolate, cocoa and a hint of caramel dominate.

After two disappointments, a good rum - and surprisingly good for a rum from the Dominican Republic! Dark aromas dominate here, but they are complex and harmonize perfectly. The alcohol is also well integrated this time.

This Dominican Republic rum is no complexity wonder, but still quite convincing. It clearly embodies the Spanish style and, due to its high alcohol volume, has enough character to give it some edges and corners towards bourbon cask and spices.

A bold, dark rum with distinct notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, and caramel. The 63% ABV packs a punch but is quite well integrated. The profile isn't particularly complex, but it's intense and roasty. A characterful sipper with a chocolate side.

#6625 06.04.2026 Tasting with Florian in Blåvand. This is a very good rum if you look a the price tag. Sweet yet well balanced with nice coconut, vanilla, caramel and some chocolate in the dried fruits.

Random find at Whisky 'n More Hattingen 2026 – actually, Thunderbird and I just wanted to try the chips. Comes like a good Foursquare, dark fruits and chocolate, plus strong barrel influences with coconut and vanilla. For the price, you can definitely take this Kura!

Quite an interesting sample. The color is OK, brownish, nothing special. The nose changes over time in the glass. At first, a bourbon nose. Caramel, brown sugar, a bit of vanilla with herbal nuances (lovage?). With air, it shifts more into the chocolate world, also more spice. On the palate, on one hand, sweet caramel notes combined with cask flavors and roastiness. Then in the finish, those herbal notes again. Shows character. I found it rounder with a few drops of water, which did the rum good for my taste. Not a complexity wonder but good quality.

The rums from Spahns are really tasty. This Dom Rep has the perfect drinking strength, in my opinion. Better than all those 40%ers. Lots of dark chocolate and cocoa can be detected here, but also some vanilla and caramel.
