Pleasant starter. Lots of dried plum and other dried fruits. Generally a very nice woody influence. Unfortunately a little too much sweetness for me. A very nice transitional rum to move from the totally sweet starters to the dry variants

10.09.2021 Sitting at home with some samples. Notes Medium dark to dark in colour. Nose Light, faint wood, fruits, coconut, caramel, sweet, faint chocolate. Palate Light, sweet, fruits, dried fruit, herbs, light caramel, light chocolate, faint wood, nutmeg. Finish Short, faint wood, pear, spice, raisin, faint chocolate.

Woody with coffee and caramel. Apple perhaps. On the palate, an immediate sensation of sweet dark chocolate. Not very flattering. Alcohol very present despite the reduction. I had a very negative opinion initially because it's too sweet for me, but in the end it's not so bad and can be enjoyed. Somewhere between rum and ron.

Retaste: Heavy on wood/roasted/burnt notes but less on a fruit. Otherwise I agree completely with the rest. I am not a fan of the aroma. It's not bad do not get me wrong but it's similar Guyanese rums such as pussers. Heavy on a cocoa, burnt sugar, dark chocolate, vanilla and raisins. Very specific. Taste is much better for me. Pussers taste almost the same as the nose, here it is different carrying all major tones from the nose such as cocoa, dark chocolate, brown sugar, nougat and vanilla with noticable sweetness but it adds a little bit of peppery spiciness to sprinkle it up a little. At very far distance I can notice the cola flavor but very very distantly but this is what differentiates this rum from Guyanese one. Finish is medium to long one. Very good rum minus the nosing.

My RumRatings review from 6 years ago: On the nose, the rum is quite fruity. But you should give it a few minutes so the alcoholic note can dissipate. On the palate, it shows fruity sweetness, dark notes, and citrus fruits. I also taste nice woody barrel notes, which enhance the rum for me. Unfortunately, the finish is short and shows no further development of the rum. The Lazy Dodo is a quirky rum that doesn’t need to hide at around 30-35 euros. Its rather unique note makes it interesting but for me, it’s not a rum I would sip daily. In the end, it mainly lacks that certain punch in the finish. I find the bottle design quite varied.

Chutney rum with a slightly sweet to sweet profile. The nose shows caramel, tropical fruit 🍋🟩, pineapple and vanilla. The taste has distinct apples, vanilla and overall fruity flavor.

MacY rom festival Nov. 2024. Just not enough good stuff. Too watered down. Not that it doesn't have good balanced notes of vanilla, plum, fruit, orange, and burnt wood, but would have been significantly better at a higher ABV.

The rum smells like old wine, or wine with spicy. It has sweet beginning, proceed by sour body with grep flavour mixed with cocoa. Aftertaste is dry.

Not really something that I found fancy. It is very south American in profile with a lot of cocoa. The nose has some complexities of tobacco and paint, but all of that is gone on the tongue. Finishes a bit bitter
