Sipped neat, this is textbook Caroni: rubber, tar and workshop oil hit first, then roasted fruit pushes back — caramelised mango, candied papaya, a peach sweetness underneath. A menthol-liquorice coolness runs through the whole thing and keeps the heavy dark notes from flattening it. Starts a touch thin, then fills out; at 55.3% the alcohol sits well integrated. Long, oily, dirty finish.

The typical Caroni signature is present. It feels very dense and brings an intense industrial note with it. Gradually, the rum opens up in the glass, revealing aromas of roasted fruits, caramelized mango, candied papaya, and sweet peach. A hint of licorice and menthol runs through the bouquet, providing a pleasant freshness that counteracts the deep dark notes. The longer it breathes in the glass, the more fascinating the contrast between tarry warmth and sweet fruits becomes. On the palate, it is extremely full-bodied and powerful at the start. Workshop notes, oil, and rubber dominate. Very quickly, however, the fresh and roasted fruits return. Mango, papaya, and peach bring a wonderful, rich sweetness. The menthol-like freshness slowly builds in the background. It is well balanced for its high intensity and feels very rounded. The finish with notes of tar and rubber is long and enduring, accompanied by the roasted fruits. Later, the menthol returns and leaves a heavy freshness that perfectly prolongs the enjoyment. A Caroni HTR as I like it. It impresses with its extremely typical notes, where the force of industrial aromas meets a beautiful, fruity richness.

Ein wundervoller Caroni mit allem was dazu gehört. Die Nase ist noch etwas verhalten mit etwas Gummi und Lösungsmittel. Am Gaumen auch zuerst etwas dünn, kommt aber dann mit allen Vorzügen eines Caroni. In allem sehr gelungen.
