Fair rating 4. GAF Stuttgart 09.05.2026 What, only an 81% match!? 😳 No way, this rum is made for me! 😍 Perfect alcohol integration, yet still packs a punch, loads of minty sweetness, and a long, steady finish - that's how a TDL has to be to please me! Big shoutout to Bottle Shop Heilbronn for this great and very fairly priced bottling!

Tasted at the 4th GAF Stuttgart, directly with Stefan from Bottleshop right at the booth. He once again proved that he has a good eye for barrel selection. Not much more to say, just delicious.

9:On the nose, minty molasses, industrial, medicinal with esters, rubber and tar hints, oily, sweet roasted wood notes like chocolate, marzipan, cola, meaty, passion fruit, peaches, citrus fruits, overripe, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, berries, currants arise, caramel, pastry, bubble gum hints, some bacon, spicy with allspice, smoky, menthol joins. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is slightly alcoholic, medicinal, industrial with menthol, rubber, light esters, fruity with fermented tropical fruits like pineapple, passion fruit, maracuja, kiwi hints, peaches and citrus fruits, molasses is minty, the wood is roasted, sweet with caramel, maple, pastry, spicy with allspice, vanilla, slightly smoky. 8,9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, a bit medicinal, the oak is toasted, sweet, oily with caramel, chocolate, maple, caramelized, spicy with allspice, smoky, meaty, delicious, molasses is minty, sweet with honey hints, dark with black tea and tropical, yellow fruits are fermented, dairy notes join..

Less mint than the younger sister cask, but more smoke, burnt sugar, and still a good load of fruit on the nose. On the palate, a clearer lean towards sweet notes like caramel, syrup, and molasses. The long finish balances sweetness with mint, fruit, and chocolate. I really like it, and the price is more than fair.

👃 A first nose quite puzzling with lots of pastry aromas; caramel, fruit juices, chouchou, Canadian syrup, molasses, roasted nuts, cooked vanilla, dark chocolate... Also a light leather note, an overall profile quite woody and roasted. With aeration (more than an hour), finally come notes of camphor, eucalyptus, mint, peach and mango, (traces of dehydrated black fruits) although it remains quite light compared to other TDL 2009. 😋 Quite woody and alcoholic, even if I find the mint / chocolate / peach combination a bit more dominant than on the nose. Peppermint kick at the start of the mid-palate. Then, a drying sensation. We find the pastry flavors from the nose with cooked vanilla, bitter chocolate, well-cooked caramel, tropical fruits (mango and passion fruit come to mind). ⛳ Long, warm, rather pleasant, woody, vanilla, caramelized fruits, burnt sugar. Then, a dry sensation of mint leaf and green tea. ⚔️ A good TDL 2009 having similarities with the Ferrer released at Rhum Fest 2026. A profile more woody than fruity. 🏆 To date, my current top: The Roots Antelope - TWJ gazelle - CoR Up Spirits club - FRC BD. 📝 The order I placed stayed more than a week in a locker, during the heatwave. This may have altered the content of the sample. This perhaps explains the more woody/caramelized/vanilla/roasted profile of this TDL at the expense of the better-known mint/peach/mango/dirty profile.

Rum tasted at the GRF in Berlin in 2026. A very beautiful nose of TDL, wonderfully fruity with some esters and a slightly pronounced but integrated wood that gives it a dark side. Also peach, like a peach iced tea. The palate is beautiful and the peach stands out even more than the tropical fruits, the cedar wood is perfectly in place. The finish is lovely, highlighting the slightly acidic fruits.

Lots of samples to review before the GRF. On the nose: Minty, menthol and roasted woody notes, but also lovely fruity notes and marzipan notes. As the rum opens up you get some earthy notes in there aswell. Taste: Minty and menthol with sweeter notes like caramel and vanilla. Fruity notes. Woody notes. Balanced. This is very good and the high abv is integrated very well. Finish: Minty and menthol notes. Light vanilla and caramel notes. Finishes medium dry with light earthy notes. This one was more fruity and sweeter than typical TDL rums and integration of alcohol was very good. Excellent barrel pick.

Trade fair review. A really tasty TDL with the classic peach iced tea aroma. In terms of intensity, there are certainly better examples, but the value for money offered here is unmatched. Absolutely recommended to buy.

Beautifully extremely smooth TDL 2009 that has clearly gained from the additional 2 years. Very pleasant sweetness and creaminess, light mint, lots of fruit, and overall really very harmonious. Great bottling at a very fair price!

This juice is amazing, especially for the price it's sold at. Lots of menthol, that's the first thing you notice. Followed by a beautiful basket of tropical fruits, vanilla and a touch of caramel. A subtle and discreet woodiness, a huge length that sticks well in the mouth. I love it ❤️❤️

Today, the new 2009 T.D.L from Stefan has to prove itself against its predecessor RX18328, which still remains my personal reference for a 2009 T.D.L. On the nose, you find the typical markers like fruit and a bit of mint. On the palate, the new one from the sister cask is nicely full and present, with the alcohol quite well integrated. However, the additional cask influence is noticeable and brings a slight bitterness. The cask influence isn’t really too much here, but I liked the balance even better in the predecessor. The fruits were a bit oilier and juicier, and the overall result was a bit more harmonious. Nonetheless, this is also a great 2009 T.D.L. Another great selection from Stefan, even though for me it unfortunately doesn’t quite reach the predecessor.

A TDL as I like them. Very close to the whisky jury TDL 2009. On the nose, an explosion of exotic fruits, peach, mango, vanilla caramel, wrapped in menthol like a bunch of fresh mint. On the palate, a delight of peach and yellow fruits, finely mentholated with some spices. It's powerful and aromatic. The finish is long and pleasant.

The nose is a nice Trinidad. However, for me, it’s almost cola-like. Very promising. The palate doesn’t disappoint. Very balanced and smooth. Almost too gentle to drink. Wow.

So, very nice nose, peach, mango, mint, and some hydrocarbon hints. Palate: intense, heavy and fresh at the same time, thanks to the mint. The mango is juicy and ripe, still that sensation of a bit of petrol. Back to the nose: a little smoke appears, coming and going. This smoke will take even more space as the tasting goes on. A little sharpness, almost new, comes from the back of the throat, with a fruity woody finish. It doesn’t revolutionize the 2009 TDL, but it’s very well done and clearly among the top of the vintage. Bottle shop = never disappointed. For me, it remains the king of juice selection for quality-price ratio!

An excellent TDL with great value for money. It's fun. The nose is a TDL dream with lots of fruit. The mint is there but doesn't dominate the rum, which is a nice change from the many mint-heavy TDLs. The palate is surprisingly sweet and the alcohol is very well integrated. Clear recommendation. 2009 has a lot of potential and gives hope with the current prices of older TDL vintages.

Right from the start. Nice TDL. Brown-orange color. On the nose, what you’d expect. Woody spice, brown sugar, mint. All round and nicely aromatic. On the palate, power, a clear mint note that gives freshness. Behind that, a pleasant light sweetness. Woody, spicy, and generally well-balanced. The long warm finish with woody spice and menthol. Tastes really good.

03/10/2026: tasted @ Salon du Rhum 2026. A good and fruity 16yo TDL, but not a slap in the face. Round and balanced. I think the launch price was €180, which is on the expensive side in my opinion. Good TDL though.

Very nice bottling even though T.DL are not my cup of tea. I usually don't like their dirty side. Here the balance is very good, the dirty side is not too present, it's a very good rum, quite consensual.
