Tasted at Rhum Fest 2026. 👃 Above all, quite a woody profile for a TDL 2009. Almost pastry-like caramelized notes on the first nose, surprising. Then, red fruits and black berries, peppermint and characteristic menthol, stewed tropical fruit juices. 😋 More wood, vanilla caramel, roasting, chocolate than in many other TDL 2009s. Quite atypical even. Then, you find the light mint that answers the dark chocolate, the fruits more red than black. Little to no characteristic peach and mango notes. ⛳ Long, comforting, quite dark, woody, with this fruit caramel (peach?) and burnt sugar, dried mint leaf, tobacco. ⚔️ To be compared with other contenders for the best TDL 2009 title; TheBottleShop 1st and 2nd MEB, the 2 TWJ, the 2 the Roots including the excellent collab with Antilope. ⚖️ I lower my rating by 2 points. It remains a very good TDL 2009 that strays a bit from the characteristic profile.

Les tdl 2009 sont les sorties à la mode du moment et du coup sont très attendus et livrés à la critique. Je qualifierais ce rhum de :plaisant et bon. Mais ce n est pas mon 2009 préféré. Ce tdl est plutôt fruité et sombre avec du boisé. J attendais à plus de fraîcheur sur cette année.

Tasted at the Rhum Fest Paris 2026. A nice selection this TDL. Less focused on menthol than some older casks. Here, red fruits are the most present. Surrounded by a nice woodiness, a lovely sweetness with a slightly burnt caramel. Very nice.

Tasted at RFP 26. Felt a bit alcoholic. Apart from that it was a tasty 2009 TDL that hits all the markers that you expect although it was not an outstanding cask in my opinion. It was the first rum of the day so the palette might not have been fully calibrated yet.
