The Whisky Jury Jamaica & Guyana 1995

Sip this one neat and slow — it's a 30-year-old Jamaica-Guyana blend built for relaxed evenings, not fireworks. Banana and tropical fruit from the Jamaican side sit next to chocolate, molasses and toffee from the Guyanese, with the esters way in the background. Three decades in the cask sanded off every edge. Several tasters call it a high-end easy sipper — and wonder if the low proof holds it back.

Man erkennt beide Bestandteile, jedoch harmonieren diese nicht sonderlich gut miteinander. Auch hier hätten die einzelnen Bestandteile getrennt voneinander wohl besser funktioniert. Hätte deutlich höhere Ester erwartet

I was very curious about this allem blend and at the same time skeptical because of the low alcohol content. Jamaica is noticeable on the nose and palate if you know it. The long time in the barrel has taken the edges off the rum. In a blind tasting with bourbon, the rum would probably pass as a submarine. In my view, good but nothing more.

After the last blend of LongPond and Hampden didn’t do it for me at all, I was skeptical here. Unjustified, absolutely convincing harmonious blend. The early marriage and then 30 years of aging in the cask were just right. Also, thanks to the low ABV, it’s absolutely suitable as a high-level daily sipper. I’d guess Port Mourant and a Clarendon here. Esters can be perceived very subtly in the background. I really like it.

Nice, well-balanced blend. A few more degrees might have brought out even more depth and complexity.

Wow, what is this? Low-ester Jamaica meets Guyana, and in the most relaxed way possible. This is probably the most expensive and at the same time highest quality easy sipper I've had in a glass so far. The fruitiness of the Jamaican perfectly complements the profile of the Guyana. A really nice one, but for a relaxed (high-quality) easy sipper, it's almost a bit too pricey.

26/06/2026: Road Rummers Supertasting @ TastToe. It becomes immediately clear that the balance of this blend is near perfect. The Jamaican part could have easily overpowered it, but it's not the case here. The Guyanese profile shines through as well. Very well done, but the current price is too high for me.

Aged rum

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 15,000 Rums

Aged rum is where the spirit earns its complexity. In a tropical warehouse a barrel loses 6 to 10 percent of its contents to evaporation every year, which is why an 8-year Caribbean rum can taste deeper than a 20-year Scotch. This page gathers every rum on RumX that has spent real time in wood, with community ratings to separate the genuinely mature from the merely dark.
