8,3:On the nose, medicinal with polish, young, toasted wood notes, sweet, like caramel, chocolate, roasted nuts, barrel impact is obvious, pastry, biscuits, burnt sugar, smoky, grassy molasses, tropical fruits like banana, green and citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is thick, dark with black tea, licorice, light esters could be noticed, wood brings warm spice like allspice, anise, some vanilla. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with polish, later with rubber, fruity with tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, stewed peaches, fresh with tea, grassy, floral, our tasting buds are attacked with toasted young oak notes, sweet, like caramel, chocolate, biscuits, pastry, spicy vanilla, allspice, smoky, slightly dirty, tannic, as molasses is dark with licorice. 8,1:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, slightly dirty, chemical with phenol, oak is toasted, sweet with nuts, dark chocolate, coffee hints, fruitcake, caramelized, smoky, fruity with pineapple, banana, citrus and red fruits, as molasses is grassy, fresh with tea. Interesting blend of an exciting experiment. You can immediately taste the Jamaican background; the WP aromas are noticeable. The barrel used for aging was probably uncharred and unused. You can smell and taste the young wood very distinctly. With further blends or interesting pre-aging, it should be possible in the future to minimize these intense aromas.

Habe den Rum nun zum zweiten Mal im Glas. Schöne goldene Farbe. Der Naseneindruck ist recht einnehmend. Jamaica ist erkennbar gepaart mit einer gewissen Würzigkeit/Holzigkeit. Am Gaumen kommen die würzigen und holzigen Noten dann noch stärker durch. Dabei eine ausgleichende Süsse. Gefällt mir beim zweiten Mal besser als bei der ersten Verkostung. Vielleicht weil das Sample Luft bekommen hat. Der ABV mit 70%! ist recht gut integriert. Der mittellange Abgang auf der würzig-süssen Seite. Ich finde das Ergebnis echt gut. Das Holz vielleicht etwas zu jung/aggresiv - macht aber in seiner rauhen Art Spass auf hoher See zu trinken.
