Tasted for the second time, the bottle had time to oxidize a bit. The least we can say is that this rum is a UFO! I've never had this kind of profile in my glass. What surprises me the most is the unusual floral scent on the palate, rounded out by caramel, cooking spices, and vanilla. I think there's something to discover with every tasting.

Very good this! You can feel the soul of the clairin (a wild candied cane), and you also sense the contribution of Mount Gay with lots of indulgence. The woodiness is in the background. A slight typical ester note of clairin is noticeable. It's varied and pleasant.

Trying the new vieux Clairins releases from Velier. This one here is slightly darker than the Vieux Sajous and Vieux Casimir. On the nose it's quite sweet, with sugarcane but also caramel and candied fruit, it evocates a sweet white wine. On the palate the Le Rocher funk is perceptible, the roasted meat juice and smoke are there, although less present than on the unaged version. The Mount Gay cask seems to be bringing the caramel notes and I think it's a nice choice.

A first for me, on an old Clairin. I clearly find the caramelized pineapple with that very fresh side of sugarcane. On the palate, it’s crazy. Once again, the caramelized pineapple, warm and vanilla comes first. Then, I get a little meaty side with vegetal notes of sugarcane, it’s strange but really so good. For the finish, I would have liked it to last just a little longer, but it’s more than acceptable. It’s one of the best rums I’ve tasted.

Elegant and expressive nose. It is both fruity and sweet, blending roundness (vanilla), freshness, and a hint of toasted wood. The palate is less delicate but just as good. The fruits are this time overripe. The texture is ample and creamy. The finish is long and reminiscent of barbecue sauce, with a smoky woodiness. I remain convinced that with aging, Le Rocher is the clairin with the greatest potential. Can't wait to taste versions beyond 15 years!
