Apparently it's aged in a Caroni barrel... Well, you don't really notice it. On the other hand, it has a rather lively and fresh nose. Still that candied sugarcane with orchard fruits.

Trying the new vieux Clairins releases from Velier. Another very good release. I'm very surprised but besides the expected sugarcane, herbal and pastry notes, this vieux Casimir has a floral aspect to it. I it's confirmed on the palate, although unlike the Vieux Sajous from the same release, I don't have any Caroni note at all here.

Sample from Rhumattitude tasted. Very good, rich, deep, long on the palate and finish. Its aging has made it lose many of the Clairin markers; I don't find any Caroni marker. In short: a very good rum but you shouldn't take it for a Clairin or a Caroni.

Nose of honey, ripe fruits, and roasted pineapple, smoky, with vegetal and floral notes. A little bit of solvent and spices too. On the palate, the woody side stands out along with spices. The fruit is more discreet. Good but the palate falls a bit compared to the nose.
