Often disparaged as bland, 2003 TDL are regularly first-class rums in the upper 80s range. Unfortunately, this Swell bottling doesn't reach that level. Especially the finish is rather weak.

Nose: unobtrusive for T.D.L, mild, sweetness can be guessed, a certain freshness is also there Palate: alcoholic, mint, mild, quite sweet Finish: mint and spice, I know it more intense from others Good T.D.L, somehow feels thin, mint is present but overall lacks intensity

Nose sweet with vanilla, wood and spice. On the palate again sweetness with a slightly roasted caramel note, the cask comes through well, but unfortunately for me too little to no fruit component. Mint is also only very subtle.

Lots of column still profile with vanilla, caramel and subtle citrus notes. Plus some mint, ripe tropical fruit sweetness from mangos - very inviting profile with great drinkability. Really delicious release.

Tried this 2003 TDL in direct comparison with the Planteray 2003 TDL (RX23888). Beautiful amber. Darker than the comparison sample. On the nose spicy, caramel aromas. Slight sweetness and slight alcohol. Becomes nicely spicy and round over time. On the palate, this aroma comes through first, then light mint, light wood rounded off with nice fruit sweetness. Overall a very clean profile and fun to drink. The Planteray in comparison is noticeably mintier and milder. Empty glass with distinct vanilla note.

On the nose caramel, yellow fruits with peach in the lead, a slight woodiness and a touch of mint. A very indulgent palate, with always the presence of caramel and peach. The mint is a bit more present than on the nose. Some red fruits appear at the end of the palate. Finish a bit short. A rather light and relaxed easy-drinking rum, but still pleasant. Note that the nose evolves well between two sips.
