"Freshly poured candle wax with a subtle smoky undertone" is how one taster opens, and that waxy, esters-and-varnish nose sets the tone. On the palate it swings between tropical fruit — pineapple, banana, mango — and a chemical, mineral, earthy side that turns bitter in the finish for some. At 60.1% the alcohol is well integrated. A young, intense Long Pond that a few call elegant and a couple find divisive.

Tasted this rum at the Rhum Fest Paris 2026. The Famille Ricci is a rather new independent bottler that started up in 2019. This bottling, an 8yo Pot still single cask from Long Pond, is part of their “Water Collection” and is limited to only 200 bottles worldwide. The nose is elegant, intense, fruity and chemical with scents of esters and varnish. At the palate it’s complex, elegant, intense, smooth, balanced, earthy, mineral, fruity, smoky and overripe with flavors of esters. The finish is long and lingering.

So fruity this rum is somehow not at all for me. Instead, it's very chemical, mineral, and medicinal. It's very intense and besides esters, I can also detect nail polish here.

An LP that leaves me undecided. On one hand, tropical fruits, pronounced esters, and varnish; on the other hand, something chemical and earthy that becomes increasingly bitter in the finish. The alcohol is well integrated.

Tasting premiere today at the beach.😍 The Ricci family has a knack for pretty good rum, unfortunately also with proud prices. This Long Pond has a nice fruity nose, it’s young and fresh, with lots of esters and I detect a slight olive note, it feels very elegant. The palate is intense, initially quite alcoholic. Tropical fruits, esters, mineral notes, then shifting to a woody spicy character. The finish is long, with lots of roasted aromas and malt, plus some leather. Embedded in that are some esters and citrus fruits. Conclusion: too young for more complexity, but feels too old because of the strong roasted aromas on the finish.😃 Thanks for the sample Sky. Good rum, but not worth a bottle for me.

The nose reminds me of freshly poured candle wax with a subtle smoky undertone, followed by classic funky esters. On the palate it's packed with tropical fruit—pineapple, banana, and ripe mango—layered with a gentle hint of smoke that adds depth, with great balance and a long, satisfying finish. One of the most enjoyable Long Pond bottlings I've tried

Nose of pretty exotic fruits full of sugar, mango in the lead. Always those fruits on the palate, with a bit of green apple, solvents, and a chemical side. The finish is a bit spoiled by a quite pronounced bitterness. Ahh, a shame, without that the score would have been much higher.
