Tasted this rum at the Rhum Fest Paris 2026. The Famille Ricci is a rather new independent bottler that started up in 2019. This bottling, an 8yo Pot still single cask from Long Pond, is part of their “Water Collection” and is limited to only 200 bottles worldwide. The nose is elegant, intense, fruity and chemical with scents of esters and varnish. At the palate it’s complex, elegant, intense, smooth, balanced, earthy, mineral, fruity, smoky and overripe with flavors of esters. The finish is long and lingering.

An LP that leaves me undecided. On one hand, tropical fruits, pronounced esters, and varnish; on the other hand, something chemical and earthy that becomes increasingly bitter in the finish. The alcohol is well integrated.

Heute Verkostungspremiere am Strand.😍 Die Familie Ricci hat ein Gespür für recht guten Rum, leider auch stolze Preise. Dieser Long Pond hat eine schöne fruchtige Nase, er ist jung und frisch, mit viel Ester und ich erkenne leichte Olive,er wirkt sehr elegant. Der Gaumen ist intensiv, anfänglich recht alkoholisch. Tropische Früchte, Ester, mineralisch, dann übergehend zum holzigen würzigen Karakter. Der Abgang ist lang, mit viel Röstaromen und Malz,dazu etwas Leder. Darin eingebettet etwas Ester und Zitrusfrüchte. Fazit: zu jung für mehr Komplexität, aber zu alt wirkend durch die starken Röstaromen im Abgang.😃 Danke fürs sampeln Sky. Guter Rum, aber für mich keine Flasche wert.

The nose reminds me of freshly poured candle wax with a subtle smoky undertone, followed by classic funky esters. On the palate it's packed with tropical fruit—pineapple, banana, and ripe mango—layered with a gentle hint of smoke that adds depth, with great balance and a long, satisfying finish. One of the most enjoyable Long Pond bottlings I've tried
