Here too, the Caroni is absent. Very fresh on the nose, the palate is intense with a strong sweetness. Candied cane is always the signature of this collection. The ginger tickles the mouth. Nice integration of the alcohol and a nice long finish.

Trying the new vieux Clairins releases from Velier. I've got to say, these older releases get better and better. I have the markers of older clairins like sugarcane and honeycomb, as well as pastry notes here. The vegetal aspect of Sajous is tamed down, so little to no olives there but there. The Caroni influence is faint as expected, although I have a gazoline feeling on the palate and the finish. Overall a very enjoyable bottling.

The nose takes a little time to open up. You immediately get the cane, which takes a few minutes to soak up sugar and sweetness. The wood influence is present but delicate. The palate is round, with fairly ripe and caramelized fruit. The wood is more noticeable, especially on the long but well-controlled finish. You can sense the Caroni cask. Overall, it’s quite simple but rather well done.
