Surprise for a 65% Hampden: this one stays polite. LROK is the lower-ester mark, so instead of a glue bomb you get pineapple, baked apple and toffee with just a light dusting of ester and funk. Mostly continental aging has kept it fruity and the alcohol sits well integrated despite the proof. Several tasters like the nose more than the palate, and nobody calls it complex.

#1827 14-08-2026 - Rate 8.2 Let me begin with saying, that this i a good Hampden. Yes low mark. Would have liked a C<>H instead. Nice ABV. A few years back I was more into Hampden then I am now. Have tasted a low of young Hampden between 5 and 15 years. All are good or very good. But I miss the old Hampdens we got 5-10 years ago

High ester Hampden with lots of continental aging. By now, the market is personally flooded with rather 'young' Hampdens. This one is good, the alcohol is very well integrated and it gives you exactly the aroma you expect. Dark pastry, burnt sugar, some citrus zest, esters and funk, and a pleasant woodiness. Nothing to complain about if you like this profile but honestly no standout either. I actually would have guessed LROK or LFCH blind and I'm a bit proud that it really is an LROK!😅.

18/07/2026: rum tasting @ Stijn. 19/09/2026: retasting @ home. A relatively young, low ester mark Hampden with mostly continental aging. I like the nose better than the palate to be honest. Alcohol is integrated well. The label is nice, but don't need a bottle.

Trade fair tasting at the Nobilis booth GRF 2026. So, a short review. Hampden nose. Classic profile for a lower mark (here LROK). Very tasty on the palate. Perfectly balanced light fruity sweetness with the fruit esters. Slight glue notes. Works well. Medium-long finish on the palate aromas with a very slight vegetal note right at the end. Depending on the day, I like the middle marks more than the high ester variants. Same here.

Interesting. Different from classic Hampden. A somewhat smoother and fattier turn but less funk and fruit. The cask apparently worked well. Not Hampden overall but not my favorite.

Poured from a sample. Not the most complex thing in the world, but LROK never is in my experience. Mostly just a lot of pineapple and glue, with some wood spice on the palate. I can see where some folks are getting orchard fruit, but it’s still distinctly pineapple forward for me. Overall, a good rum if simple rum!
