Sipped neat it drinks less like a rum and more like a sweet sherry-port dessert in a glass — raisin, grapes, dried red fruit, a plum-jammy roundness from the PX and port casks. At 38.1% the alcohol is buried; one member would've guessed 30% blind. The finish is short and fades fast, and the Foursquare base almost disappears. Beginners and sweet-tooths adore it; several here find it just too sweet.

In the nose you can clearly smell sweet sherry. The port comes right after. Already smells like a very mild, easy-drinking rum. In the mouth it is exactly that, easy-drinking mild sherry-heavy rum. Highly recommended.

A very sweet, fruity sipper with intense raisin and dried plum notes, accompanied by sherry and port wine. Soft and uncomplicated, but quite one-dimensional due to the strong sweetness. Decent for just under 20€ and a recommendation for beginners and lovers of sweet rums. However, rather limited as a sophisticated rum.

Compared to Wagemut, it's a bit more agreeable, sweeter, with the alcohol better integrated because of the sweetness. But you have to be clear about what kind of spirit you're dealing with.. Definitely very suitable for beginners!

On the nose, raisins, sherry and dried fruits dominate, along with grape, plum and port wine. On the palate, the fruit is a bit more restrained, with raisin, plum and dried fruit. A round, fruit-forward character with fine oak spice. Very tasty in my opinion 😊.

The PX Cask is noticeably fruitier and milder, minus the wood. Very creamy, well-integrated sweetness, zero alcoholic. Raisin, (dried) red fruits, sherry, the port finish probably also contributes to the roundness. Absolute dessert price/performance hit, at most one could criticize that not much of the rum base is recognizable anymore. Comparable to the Ida van der Ille, just (natural) fruit instead of vanilla. Drinks: - Neat: 4.5/5

Very sweet, almost liqueur-like. The rum only comes through a bit in the short finish, sherry and port dominate on the nose and palate. The finish reminded me of a candy from childhood, whose name unfortunately escapes me. Well-made product that most people will like. Clearly aimed at beginners and those with a sweet tooth. The alcohol is excellently hidden, I would have guessed around 30% blind. Personally too sweet for me, but my wife loves it. 😉

The smell hardly hints at what to expect when you drink this rum. Once in the mouth, the port wine comes through, raisins, nuts, and fruits come to the fore to be discovered. The finish is really very short and unfortunately the taste fades quickly.

Tastes like a Black Pearl from the bottle, just without the funk. Here the rum makes the sherry more drinkable, although as a dessert I probably wouldn't even need the rum.

Very gentle on the nose, sweet, woody, fruity, and pleasantly rounded, just like the taste which is first fruity, honey-sweet, gradually becoming more woody and alcoholic. The finish offers slightly alternating aromas again, with a hint of raisins coming through as well.

Sweet and fruity spirit. The smell reminds me of red wine and raisins. Very suitable for dessert, for beginners and those who like it sweeter (and surely also good as a gift). For me, however, it will remain just one bottle for now.

Very very sweet. I taste sweetness and raisin. I don't even want to know how high the sugar content is. More like a liqueur than rum, you don't really taste much rum anymore. Unfortunately a disappointment, I expected a bit more after the Px-Cask.

[German Rum Festival 2026] The "little brother" lives up to his name: uncomplicated, charming and dangerously drinkable. Dark fruits, caramel and honey meet clear PX and port wine notes, plus a surprisingly salty nuance. I especially like how soft and accessible it remains despite the lush sweetness. Certainly not a rum for deep analysis – but one where the glass empties surprisingly fast. Not a complex "thinker rum," but rather a feel-good dram for a relaxed evening. Especially the combination of dark fruit, PX sweetness and that little salty tip makes it more interesting to me than the 38.1% ABV would initially suggest.

On the nose very wine-heavy, port is well perceptible but not too dominant then the sherry. Mouthfeel is pleasantly velvety oily quite sweet as it is also advertised. Personally, the proportion of sweet wine is too high for me.

The nose is clearly weaker than the PX Cask and is very dominated by Port. The whole product is very port-heavy and very sweet. The finish is also dominated by the port wine aroma with lots of raisin flavor. I can recommend it for beginners. Too sweet for me.
