Another interesting bottling from Holger Spahn. The color here is OK but nothing special. Brownish. Then it gets more exciting. Somehow fresh on the nose. Hints of lemon, plus yellow fruity. But combined with distinctive woody spicy aromas. Honestly, I'm not sure if I like it or not. On the palate very woody spicy, but without becoming bitter. At first the fruit parts are included but then decrease. The 67.2% ABV cannot be denied and a few drops of water take the sharpness away. A medium-long to long finish on the spicy elements, these underlying light fruity aromas remain until the end. With getting used to the profile and 2-3 drops of water it gets really good. Definitely should be tried if you have a sample.

The second one from Spahns Scotchwarehouse and the second with a dominant alcohol note. For Ecuador, the rum is surprisingly fruity. However, the spice and wood aromas and the cask influence are clearly stronger.

Shows a profile of tropical fruits, citrus fruits, and spicy wood notes. The ex-bourbon cask is clearly noticeable and gives the rum a nice warmth. Overall aromatic, but not particularly complex and unfortunately a bit too alcoholic.
