Kirsch Import La Favorite Journal des Kirsch #14 French West Indies Rhum 2019
Surprisingly little grass for an agricole — this leans dark instead. Prunes and raisin sit next to sugarcane, chocolate and a lot of oak for only 7 years, finishing dry, spicy and very long. At 58% it's cask strength but the fruit carries it. One taster blind-guessed HSE or J.M, and the finish is what wins people over here.

First an Agricole, not my favorite but what Kirsch bottled here is actually not so bad. Although it was a bit chaotic until I held my sample at the GRF due to my scatterbrained nature, but everything turned out fine. Finally tasted it now and found it good.

Wow - Kirsch really dug up a real gem in terms of value for money. Besides the classic Agricole aromas, you can taste light fruits, especially dried plum. I've certainly had better rums in the glass, but this one is unbeatable at its retail price. You won't find a better Agricole for the money.

I like it a lot, fruity-spicy on the nose.

Wow 🤩 this is a really gooood La Favorite ! In a blind tasting, I could think this is a HSE/Rhum J.M 😋

This is a really good Agricole. The nose isn't spectacular, but the taste is great and the finish is very long and delicious. I'm a fan of the finish! This is how Agricole should be and unbeatable for the price.

Nice Agricole, apparently from Favorite, but almost no grassy notes, light dark fruits, chocolate, slight bitterness, a lot of wood for the young age.

At first, quite alcoholic on the nose, let it breathe! After about 20 minutes, it becomes much more pleasant. On the palate, a nice Agricole with a well-balanced profile between pastry aromas / nice maturity and vegetal Agricole notes. Is it absolutely necessary to chase after a bottle now? I don't think so. For me, this is simply a nice Agricole at a very fair price.

The two new 6-year-old single casks from Neisson are probably just a bit better — at three times the price. Even though the distillery isn't mentioned here, this Journal des Kirsch bottling really makes me question the pricing from Martinique. Great value Agricole bomb!
