#7315 17.09.2026 Relaxing with a few samples after work while checking out a new TV series about cold cases on HBO. Very nice Hampden with a really good price tag at release. Intense profile with overripe fruits, ester, glue, marzipan, olive, iodine, salt, roasted wood, light smoke and a warm dry palate.

The name says it all: High Ester in perfection à la Hampden. Despite the relatively young age, this bottling meets all expectations. That's how it should be. Ester, tropical fruits, young wood... everything fits together and lets you enjoy the funk.

A "pretty" young Hampden with strong ester power. By now, it's standard for the price. In my opinion, though, it still has a few rough edges that I actually like, but a bit more time in the barrel might have made the result a little better.

A classic high ester HD, probably C<>H. Nothing spectacular due to the relatively young age, but typically funky with all the classic markers at a high level. Fun in the glass and surely soon in a Mai Tai too.

Once again a top-notch bottling from TWJ. I really like the young Jamaicans from this series. Here I think it's a C<>H with the typical marks. Already good neat, definitely great as a mixer too.

There's funk and esters here, overripe pineapple, banana, and mango on the nose. On the palate, alongside the mentioned fruits, there's a distinct mint note. Maybe the alcohol could be integrated a bit better. Very good value for money.

Still quite mild at 63.9. Slight burn on the nose and palate. Citrus, glue. High Ester Hampden. You get what you expect. Oily texture. Finish improves with resting. Becomes fresher and smokier. Compared to Ester Hunter Catch, a bit wilder. Today is a very warm day. Will try again at cooler temperatures. Overall a good Hampden. I have two bottles and that’s enough.

Basically, you know what you're getting. I'm generally a big fan of these younger C<>H rums that deliver well even without long aging (like the Ester Hunter Catch 5), but this one is still a bit too youthful, wild, and falls flat towards the end for me. Not bad at all, but I did like Catch 5 and 6 better.

#1829 28-08-2026 - Rate 8.2 Warm up to German Rum Festival 2026 4th warm up. Yet another Ester Hunter. I’m not the biggest fan of the ester hunters series. Ofthe very young and ester heavy. This one is a nice mark of flow tarts and nose.

Here, the name says it all. Tasted this Ester Hunter Catch 9 alongside the Catch 8 (RX26468). Color is a light gold. Very slight grayish shimmer. OK. On the nose, then a concentrated burst of nail polish/glue underlaid with very ripe pineapple. Immediately reminds me of a C<>H, which it actually is. The aroma is already very intense, with fruity sweetness that softens the ABV impression on the nose. On the palate, it gets noticeably wilder and more unruly despite the 9 years in the cask. The ABV of a hefty 63.9% really comes through. Tropical fruits, glue, intense. Not for the faint-hearted. The long finish is then less complex. Spicy notes remain. I like it better than the Catch 8, but it could be a bit less unruly, although I do like wildness.

Родные пенаты высокоэфирного безумия, где всё знакомо, уютно и отзывается в душе теплыми воспоминаниями. В бокале нас встречает классический, образцовый натюрморт: консервированные ананасы, вяжущие зеленые бананы и свежайший лак для ногтей. Для порядка сверху капнули пару капель эвкалиптового масла, а за пикантность отвечает суровый солоноватый акцент — эдакий гибрид морского бриза и засоленных по-мароккански лимонов. В результате получился отличный, честный Hampden. Настоящий Daily Dram — идеальный вариант на каждый вечер, чтобы просто расслабиться. Правда, сам факт того, что мы называем «легким напитком на каждый день» марку C<>H с бодрящей крепостью 63.9%, намекает, что у нас слегка сбиты ориентиры в этой жизни. Но кого волнуют такие мелочи, когда ром действительно хорош?

Young funky Hampden with good alcohol integration. Maybe a bit too dry, the Hunter 5 and especially the 6 were a bit fruitier. But still makes a good impression neat and in a Mai Tai. PGV is completely fine.

Nose: Immediately unmistakable Hampden funk with distinct ester notes and lots of lacquer or nail polish. A very typical, high-ester Hampden profile that clearly leans towards tropical fruits and solvents. The esters come through very nicely on the palate without being overly aggressive. You get banana, pineapple, and again distinct lacquer notes. Despite the high 63.9%, the alcohol is surprisingly well integrated. Overall, an intense and characterful Hampden with a clear but not completely exaggerated ester imprint. Finish: Warm and spicy, with lingering ester and lacquer notes as well as tropical fruit. The finish is, for me, only medium to medium-long and could be a bit longer. Conclusion: A good, typical Hampden with lots of ester, banana, pineapple, and nail polish. For me, an average good <>H? and overall solid, but not quite on the level of exceptional high-ester releases

Gentle funky alcohol doesn't come through. When you take a sip, the alcohol is noticeable but there's an effort for a pleasant integration.
