Varnish, glue and an odd briny olive lead the nose, backed by overripe fruit and a sour strawberry tang — a proper esterbomb from Le Galion. The palate can't quite keep the promise the nose makes: it thins out, a touch pungent, with young wood and olive on the finish. At 59.1% the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated. Wild and green for three years.

Wow, great nose. Very funky. Wild mix of esters, overripe fruit, and citrus olives. Very complex for 3 years. Unfortunately, it can’t confirm this strong impression on the palate. But for the price, an exciting bottling—I would have loved to try it with a few more years in the cask.

The Galion aroma hits you right in the nose as soon as you pour it – overripe fruits, esters, citrus, varnish, and olives. Then on the palate, there's a break: vegetal aromas and acidity dominate, which improve a bit with more air but don’t fade away. Longer time in the cask would probably have led to much better results.

Auch hier nomen est omen. Diesen Ester Hunter parallel zum RX26467 verkostet. Die Farbe dieses 3y gelagerten Rums ist sehr hell. Ein ziemlich helles Stroh. Direkt nach dem Einschenken habe ich zuerst vor allem Banane in der Nase. Diese zerquetschte reife Banane, die ich als Kind hin und wieder auf einem Butterbrot hatte. Schon klasse wie manche Aromatiken bestimmte Bilder wieder hervorrufen. Mit der Zeit kommen noch andere Fruchtester und auch leichte Klebernoten hinzu, aber alles bleibt eher auf der fruchtigen Seite. Ganz anders der Catch 9, der viel stärker auf der Lösemittelseite angesiedelt ist. Am Gaumen dann zuerst adtringierend und irgendwie Tannin-lastig. Dazu eine deutliche Säure. Wird besser mit der Zeit, dominiert mir aber zu stark über die eigentlich leckeren Fruchtaromen. Der Abgang ist auch hier recht lang, aber die Aromatik ist dabei nicht so nein Fall. Eher unbalanciert. Jedoch man muss auch das judendliche Alter und die faire Preisauszeichnung sehen.

I really like the Galion profile! However, this one is more on the sour side, so it's not quite my favorite among the Galions.

Not bad in itself, but unfortunately not my top profile. At first, I was excited by these ester notes. Unfortunately, they couldn't last long on the palate, as it feels a bit flat towards the finish.

Tolle fruchtige (Erdbeere) Esterbombe aus Martinique. Alkohol gut integriert und nur im Geschmack wahrnehmbar, ohne zu stören. Nase ist herrlich säuerlich fruchtig. PGV ist, trotz des jungen Alters, ok.

#1828 28-08-2026 - Rate 6.9 Warm up to German Rum Festival 2026 Third warm up of the evening. I’m not an agricole man, but this is to bad. Not that I’m a fan. Like the nose more then the taste. To young for me.

Le Galion Grand Arome 2023/2026, 59.1% The Whisky Jury — The Ester Hunter Catch #8 С дистиллерией Le Galion меня когда-то познакомил Робин — в те времена, когда он еще работал в Crombe и организовывал спецботлинг через The Nectar (сейчас человек творит на бельгийской Dada Chapel, с чем его и поздравляем). Но ближе к делу. И к телу. Этот релиз способен озадачить даже тех, кто мнит себя закаленным высокоэфирным маньяком, привыкшим запивать Hampden утренний кофе. Привычные тропические фрукты и благородный малярный лак здесь взяли отгул. Вместо них из бокала бескомпромиссно веет процедурным кабинетом: плотная анестезия, стерильные бинты и суровая аптечная микстура. Дерзкая юность спиртов, конечно, бодрит, но избалованный эстет внутри меня требует чего-то большего, чем просто качественный наркоз на 59.1% алкоголя. Наш пациент пока слишком дик для изысканного удовольствия. Мой вердикт неприклонен: этому рому жизненно необходимо провести в бочке еще хотя бы лет семь, чтобы укротить нрав и набраться ума-разума. Занимаем очередь на дегустацию выдержанной версии и запасаемся терпением.
