The REV mark done right, and almost everyone who tried it at the 2026 festivals walked away with a bottle. Deep woody spice, prunes, leather and burnt sugar, with the oak somehow restrained for 32 years — tasters kept noting the tannins stayed in check. Dry on the dark side, a little oily, long finish. A couple caught a bitter edge at the end.

#7248 29.08.2026 Tasted at the German Rum Festival 2026. This is a very good REV and I bought a bottle right away. The price tag is amazing considering the age and quality. I am amazed at how well the wood is integrated in the profile, I had expected a ton of tannins, but they were not really there. My quick notes while tasting. Glue, polish, fruits, caramel, spice, roasted wood, molasses, rubber, herbs.

Tasted at GRF in Berlin in 2026. A rich and deep nose with powerful wood that doesn’t dominate, prunes, and leather. The palate is also deep and rich. Lots of prunes and the alcohol is well integrated. The wood supports, less pronounced than on the nose. The finish is long with a more acidic wood right at the end. The palate and finish are a bit below the nose. A very beautiful rum picked up at RA and sold at an amazing price.

Another quick review from the German Rum Festival 2026. On the nose: Woody, light orange peel, roasted. Dried fruits. Vegetal/herbal notes as the rum opens up. Taste: Light. Warm. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Dried fruits. Plums. Light roasted notes. Woody. Good integration of alcohol. Once the rum opens up you get more herbal and minty notes. Stone fruits ? Finish: Woody, light minty notes and light menthol notes. Light citrus notes. Lovely light palate once the rum opens up and price to quality is pretty good. I need to do another review if i can a sample somewhere.

So, another tasting at home in peace. It was already tasty at the GRF and my first impression has been confirmed. A great rum with an insanely good price-performance ratio. More on the herbal side, but REV is just delicious.

This sensational bottling by Stefan Glück from Bottleshop already promises to be a big deal just from the color, something's coming your way! The nose is already packed tight with wood, leather, and dried fruits, but not too bitter or woody. On the tongue, caramel comes through with vanilla notes, very pleasant spice aromas that drift into herbal territory with burnt sugar and a nice sweetness. A really awesome REV!

Very tasty drop. Not the best 1994 REV I've tried so far, but still among the top. Woody, just barely on the edge. Along with dried plum, orange peel, herbs, black tea. It also has enough power. Very long, pleasant finish.

Wow... smoooooth. Wonderful REV! Alcohol perfectly integrated. Great aromas. Delicate bitter note in the finish. I'm so glad I managed to get a bottle! Perfect rum for my 500th tasting!!!

Nice 94 proof REV. Dark brown color, clear. On the nose, deep woody spice, leather, and strongly burnt sugar. Plus raisin and dried plum. Very appealing in the dark aromatic profile. On the palate, toasty, woody, spicy with a slight wood sweetness. With time in the glass, this dark sweetness comes out more and more. Long finish on the dark side with a fine bitterness. Bold and intense. Very tasty.

I was waiting to taste this 1994 REV after so many positive reviews. Elegant on nose, wood, orange peel, even rubber. Palate is amazing, spectacular complexity, I particularly like prines with caramel and mint combined with roasted, woody notes. Excellent. Oily, well integrated alcohol, amazing rum. I was happy Alex secured bottle for me! Thanks!

Deep nose, woody, lots of prunes, a bit of glue, coffee, and leather. Initial nose with a bit of menthol and red fruits that are less noticeable once it opens up. The palate is still very woody with lots of prunes. Also a hint of old waxed furniture. A little spicy kick at the back of the throat that enlivens everything. Very long finish marked by the wood. A nice rum, where you can clearly feel the age, without the sweet or barrel-sauced side of some Guyanas. Beautiful selection.

03/10/2026: tasted @ Salon du Rhum 2026. First rum of the day at the Catawiki booth. Always nice to taste a REV from 1994, but this one was rather bitter and tannic near the finish. Tasty, but not the best REV I ever had. The original launch price is worth it in my opinion.

Roasty aromas on the nose. On the palate a bit alcoholic with aromas of grappa and wood. It comes across with a bit of bitterness in between. The alcohol could be better integrated for my taste. Overall, not quite 100% my style; I prefer the "sweeter" Demeraras, not overly sweet, but sweeter and rounder in aroma. Edit: noticeably better on the second tasting.

Got to taste it at the GRF 2026 and had to take it home. Great dark Guyana. You can taste its age. Dried fruits, caramel, and a bit of wood. Many other aromas, a bit of mint, tobacco, citrus fruits and and and. Nicely complex with a long finish.
