Secured a bottle of this Dominican treasure from Prague for community split. I have learned that in 1980 Jose Cochon Calvo, destilery boss that time, died during a fire at the facility, left company in bancruptcy and closure shortly after. Only his grandson 20 years later started brand again and destilled this single barrel in 2008. However rumors say goverment shut down operation short after for tax related crime case... who knows but here we go with the sample from one of the latest editions brought by Singh brothers (Joshua thanks!)... I found nose rather restricted, maybe it needs an hour in glass to envolve. Herbal, green pepper, chocolate and some light notes of dried fruits on nose. Palate quite alcoholic, touch of bourbon, rather sweet, vanilla, chocolate, bitter orange, oak, lemon grass, some pastries.. finish rather short. I guess you feel tropical 16years of aging in ex bourbon white oak right away. Overall good value for money, spanish style, rather sweet for me but good one for 80+
