Little after-split-X-tasting: Wow, this rum for 77€ is definitely a bang for your buck. Even on its own, I'd count this Chairmans among the best and most complex, even if it's still a bit sharp-edged.

St. Lucia is just great. Freshly poured, it was still a bit alcoholic and unruly, but after some rest it develops a great bouquet. A very complex mix of spices, a banana or honey-like sweetness that, combined with the spices, reminds me of licorice ropes. On the palate, I initially get the same slightly too alcoholic impression that unfortunately doesn’t completely go away. Here it now reminds me a lot of Jamaica, something I also detect on the nose: esters and glue. A rum that needs a second tasting.

What a great value! 12 years of tropical aging at cask strength – that’s a statement! Classic Lucia profile in taste with tropical esters, fruits, marzipan, long finish. Really fun to drink!
