#7427 25.09.2026 - 28.09.2026 Attending the Whisky Live in Paris 2026 with a few good friends. We had a great time and it was nice to introduce them to this event which was a first for them. Quick notes while tasting. Light roasted wood, spice, fruits, caramel, sugarcane, honey, herbs.

After the Vulcan and Old Gregg stills, WIRD is trying to revive the famous Rockley with this young 2-year-old rum. The nose is creamy, with notes of caramel cream, hints of honey, and soft spices (vanilla). Strawberry and exotic fruits (pineapple, banana) arrive lightly, as does the wood with a fresh note. A nice and indulgent profile on the nose. On the palate, the combination of aromas is interesting, especially with cream, spices, caramel, honey, and marshmallow notes. You almost get that "chemical strawberry" side, but also ripe exotic fruits (banana) and a young vanilla woody note. While the body is rather oily, the structure remains a bit too light and almost feels diluted. It's a shame because the profile could have been much better. You can tell the profile is trying to find its identity. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is moderately long and the aromas are moderate. It's a bit frustrating because the whole lacks a bit of length and body. Some honeyed and medicinal notes appear alongside banana and spices, continuing what the profile offers. I think this first draft with the Rockley still is rather successful, but a bit less convincing than the two other bottlings from the old stills. A higher age statement could be interesting for the future.
