#7395 25.09.2026 - 28.09.2026 Attending the Whisky Live in Paris 2026 with a few good friends. We had a great time and it was nice to introduce them to this event which was a first for them. Quick notes while tasting. Medium intense, fruity, industrial, ester, flue, polish, pastries, herbs, spice, caramel, naturally sweet, roasted wood.

One of the oldest Mhoba bottlings to date, and it’s pretty well done. The nose is very round and refined with sugarcane, pastries, vanilla wood, and bourbon notes coming through. Along with this sweetness come citrus, exotic fruits, apricots, and esters, notably glue and medicinal notes. The profile is balanced and delicate for a Mhoba, you can feel the maturity from the aging. The palate is no exception and continues in this vein with round, mature aromas for the distillery. You find that sweet (cane) caramelized softness, the influence of bourbon vanilla, and spices. Tropical fruits, apricot, and esters blend well into the profile, which almost deserves to be a bit more relaxed and thus less tamed. The alcohol is well integrated. The finish is long and takes on earthier and more tannic notes that give a little kick to the aromas. You catch a subtle hint of rubber like in the spicier Mhobas. Dried fruits, sugarcane, spices, and medicinal aromas complete a crafted rum, finer and more approachable than usual.
