Tar and rubber up front, exactly what a Caroni should bring — the "dirty" industrial side one taster calls mechanic's-workshop notes. Underneath sit ripe tropical fruits, caramel and old varnished oak, and the fruit holds all the way into the finish. At 57.9% it's powerful but reads surprisingly approachable, almost softly watered. A classic late-'90s Caroni for people who already know the style.

A rum tasted at WLP 2026. A Caroni-like nose with mechanical workshop vibes, tar, and rubber. Also some old varnished wood with plenty of ripe and fresh tropical fruits. The attack on the palate is full and powerful, maybe not quite balanced. Then the fruits are there and hold on until the finish, which isn’t as long as the Caroni-like nose might have suggested.

#7373 25.09.2026 - 28.09.2026 Attending the Whisky Live in Paris 2026 with a few good friends. We had a great time and it was nice to introduce them to this event which was a first for them. Quick notes while tasting. Mint, souce, tar, rubber, spice, roasted wood, caramel, coffee, ginger, tannins, herbs, smoke, leather, chocolate.

Very good Caroni that brings everything you expect. Dirty aromas like tar and rubber, various tropical fruits, and caramel complement each other very well. Even though it is intense, it still tastes slightly watered down – but that could also be just a momentary impression.

I'd guess Caroni. Really nicely complex Caroni. A bit of dirty notes, at the same time (which I've never had with Caroni before) a milky note like cappuccino.

Whisky Live Paris 2026 For a late 90's caroni, this is not too dirty and more towards plastic and industry notes. Yet this vintages are not my favourite but this one is overall pleasant especially for the lack of dirty coal notes
