SAMPAN 2020 – EX-COGNAC / SWEET WINE – 45 % Heading to Vietnam with a bottle brought back directly from my visit to the distillery! 👉 5 years in ex-Cognac casks 👉 6 months finish in ex-Rivesaltes 👉 Only 600 bottles 👃 Nose: woody, exotic spices, resin, and stewed fruits. 👅 Palate: full-bodied, tropical fruits, cinnamon, dark fruits, and a slight waxy touch. 🔚 Finish: long, on dark chocolate and roasted dried fruits. On paper, everything was there… but unfortunately, it didn’t completely convince me. Even on my side, I didn’t find the pleasure I had during the tasting on site in Vietnam, which had actually made me want to bring this bottle for Rhum Mirror. Maybe it just needed more airing, as the bottle was opened shortly before the tasting. To be retested!
