SAVANNA UNSHARED CASK BELGIUM 2014 – 57.2% Change of pace! This time, we move away from molasses rums to discover a less usual side of Savanna: a true agricole rum from La Réunion! One cask. One story. 644 bottles. Some technical info: 🔸 Vintage 2014 – 10 years aging 🔸 Pure cane juice from Bois-Rouge 🔸 36-hour fermentation 🔸 Distillation on Savalle column still 🔸 Ex-Cognac cask 775 – Cell no. 4, humid warehouse 🔸 57.2% ABV – 50 cl 🔸 Exclusive edition for the Belgian market I admit I approached this one with some reservations. A Savanna agricole isn’t necessarily the profile I naturally go for... And yet, a very nice surprise! You get a particularly pleasant rum, driven by beautiful tropical fruits, with a clear influence from the ex-Cognac cask, but without overpowering the distillate. And the most surprising? I even found strawberry in there! Blind, I honestly wouldn’t be sure I’d have identified it as an agricole. Shows that Savanna still has a few tricks up its sleeve!

Nice savanna with tropical fruits, strangely a bit of strawberry, you really get the cognac cask. Salon note to be confirmed.
