What a beast, what a great bottling! Too bad there are only 48 bottles - Greedy Angels 😏. Kevin brought number 47 to Blåvand on vacation and totally blew me away with it. The MM Mark is not your everyday rum! So here I have a 25-year-old Clarendon in front of me, and I usually prefer Demerara over Jamaica these days. Well then, let's dive into this one. The nose is initially a bit restrained, which I like. You’re not immediately hit by esters and fruity compost heaps but can approach it slowly. It opens up slowly with almost buttery hints on the nose, along with fruity aromas leaning towards yellow exotic fruits like bananas, pineapple, a bit of fresh physalis, and some pumpkin, showing a light sweetness. On the palate, there’s a broad spectrum of influences from spicy notes with barrel-fermented fruit. At the back, the surprise for me is almost bitter, medicinal aromas, slightly metallic. This makes it a very complex rum to work through, with lots to discover! Thanks to Kevin for this opportunity 🤗🇩🇰

#7498 18.10.2026 "Hygge" with Fabian in Blåvand. Had a great day and evening with some really nice rums along the table, beach and dunes. Very nice and elegant low ester bottling. The low ester rums really start to play my strings when they pass 20 years. Fruity, roasted wood, balanced, round, naturally sweet, spice, chocolate, coffee, tobacco, light tannins, faint ester.

The nose is wonderfully fruity; you get a real fruit basket with various fruits presented. On the palate, unfortunately, a bit of a letdown; among the fruit aromas, banana and berries dominate (crazy combo), and darker notes like tea and tobacco, as well as various spices, take over up to the finish.

Tasted at SDR ‘26. A very low cask fill level, so not many bottles and as such automatically exciting. In the nose both fruity-sour with berrymix and lime, and harshly medicinal with wafts of acetone and nail polish remover. After breathing unripe banana appears, as well as pine resin, nougat and bittersweet espresso. The taste is woody, spicy and again quite medicinal, leaning more into acetone. Banana and berry-mix remain a constant while green tea, tobacco and a slightly hot chili touch gets added. There’s a prominent and unshakeable calvados sensation on the palate, but there is no evidence of such in the cask history apparently. The finish is medium long with hints of berries, strong coffee, green tea, eucalyptus and -again and inexplicably- calvados.

TWJ Clarendon MM 2000 – 49.5% Here, we’re diving into a micro-bottling: only 48 bottles of a 25-26 year old Clarendon, distilled in 2000 under the MM mark. And once again, a very nice selection from TWJ. You get the classic Clarendon profile with very ripe tropical fruits, citrus, olive, spices, and wood. But what really caught my attention is a little earthy note, almost in the spirit of some Fijian rums, which makes the whole thing more unusual. Really nice!

Blind, I wouldn't have guessed it was almost 26 years old. It's clear for that age. The aromas aren't over the top, the alcohol is pretty well integrated. I really like the mouthfeel. The finish is average.
