I don’t know what it is about Dillon but they just do it for me. I fricking love this thing. The first agricole rum I ever had that I actually got excited by and that made me get why cane juice rum is an art form worth discovering. Agricoles inherently have a savageness and a wildness to them and in my opinion you don’t want them tamed too much. I often like the vsop expressions better than the xo’s. If there’s no fight left in them you lose one of the biggest charms of the agricole taste experience. This Dillon VSOP is right in that sweet spot between fierce and sophisticated. A tremendous expression and highly recommended.

This rhum replaced the 5yo VSOP Reserve du Comte Arthur Dillon when Dillon changed their range, at least by name. Could be the same rhum in a new bottle, even if I don’t think so. It’s quite smooth on the palate and during the medium long finish, for a 4yo AOC Rhum.

A pretty okay rum, nothing special but not bad either. The nose is almost exclusively woody, leaning towards oak, but there's also a slight coffee note detectable. On the palate, mostly wood and barrel with some coffee as well.

A good entry level agricole. Nothing that a rum geek will ever look for, indeed it is pleasant to drink in its simplicity. Vanilla spices and wood on the nose, drinkwise wood is stronger and a vegetal note adds to the palette.

This rum sounds fruity and bright from the glass. The taste remains smooth, clear, with the addition of the good old oak barrel. The finish is woody, reminiscent of cognac. A bit of alcohol sharpness that does not interfere with enjoying the product.

65 Quite lively acidic, let's see how it oxidizes over time. It's okay for the price, roasting, citrus, quite spicy cane. 69. In party mode, it still goes down well.
